I recently joined the YMCA and committed to working out at least 40 min a day on cardiovascular exercises. Wow, what a difference its making in my sugar levels. I fought exercise for years, but now I'm loving it.

I have recently well it ihas been about 3 weeks now. Went from twice a week moderate water aerobics to adding high power water aerobics a total of 4 times a week hour classes. I was hoping it would help my levels. So why doesnt it go down after doing them. I was disappointed when instead of my levels being lower they were higher? Anyone know why that happens? I am very discouraged. But not enough to stop the exercising. Just would like to know why it doesnt go down?

I asked the same question and was told by the doctor's diabetic nurse that when one exercises you are burning some of the sugars. Wait two hours after exercise and test again. When I did that I could see that it was lowering.

My wife and I also joined the Y here in the Cleveland area back in January. I've lost 23# with diet and exercise. Wife uses the pool. I do the treadmill. We both share a cool group floor aerobics class for one hour on Tuesdays. Also I walk as much as possible and I burn alot of calories from laughing and smiling.

Hope all of you are having better luck then I am at working out. I have had a bad sciattic nerve damage for a year. Spent 2 and a half months where I couldn't walk at all, third epidaral shot in back worked for 2 months. Say doc today to get another refurral for a shot. Also have gained 8 pounds in last three weeks going to the gym and eating a 1000 calorie diet a day. Weird!!!! I feel better after the work outs, but have to admit that I need to get in shape so that I can get in shape. Reason for going to the gym to walk is I can hang on the bars and set the speed. I really needed this today, walked fast for 16 min, then reduced speed to barely a crawl as I supported myself on the bars for another nine min. Hang in there all, stick with it!!!

That is FANTASTIC! So cool. I try the bike, but I have to get my confidence back. I am shaky on it.

I bought a Gazelle at a yard sale this weekend. Now I can start exercising. I live to far out in the boonies to join a gym or the Y and I cant do a lot of walking because of gout and neuropathy and the 100+ temps would kill me . This is going to work out great.
