I was given NovoLog for the first time yesterday by my doctor for use. He told me use 5 units at mealtime. Just before dinner last night, I did the 5. We had burritos (I use whole wheat tortillas). I had two burritos. 2 hours after dinner, my sugar level was 142. This morning also, I had the 5 units and then had Kellogg’s FiberPlus Antioxidants Berry Yogurt Crunch 1 cup with milk -cal 210 -total carbs 43 -Fiber 10 -soluble fiber 4 -insoluble 6. 2 hours after breakfast my sugar level was 268. Should I be taking more of the NovoLog? How do I know how much to take with each meal to counter the raise in sugar level? Can someone give me some type of formula to go by? Also, After I have tested (2 hrs after my meal), if my sugar level is high, can I take a little more of the NovoLog?

You need to tell your Doc , Befor ajusting any med you need to talk to your Doc. Remember you can go into a coma and die if you go to low.
Best wishes

Basically the answers are yes but need to be figured with a doctor. Write down the cabs in each meal and what your blood sugar was before and after then give it to the doc. They should be able to work you up something if you give them a couple of weeks worth of stuff.
