Help! Need to lose weight.

Please give me some info on how to lose weight. A friend weighs 170 lbs like me and she's got diabetes. I'm afraid I might have diabetes if I don't shed some pounds.

For my weight loss journey, I use a free website called SparkPeople, where I journal anything & everything I put into my mouth. I stick to 1200cal weekdays and 1500cal on weekends. You setup the amount of carb grams, protein, etc that you want to track. there's even a place to keep track of your weight losses or gains. I have gout so the only exercise I do is on a recumbent bike, which I try to get on at least twice a day for 20 minutes. Good luck to all on this diabetic and weight lose journey…

Diet and exercise is a good start. Though crash dieting is a big no. And in exercise, you can start walking if you don't have an active lifesytle.

Hi. I'm doing a low carb diet to lose the extra pounds. You might wanna try it too. Just take it easy, if your friend got diabetes it doesn't mean that you'll have it too. But it's good thing that you're thinking of losing weight to be safe.

Sorry. I just joined today. I weigh 234. I can't really exercise except for walking. Where I live is HOT and HUMID. Neither my dog nor I can stand it. I have to walk with my dog as she gives me balance as I am also a back patient, which in turn, bothers my legs. I can't stand looking the way I do. I don't even go buy clothes, not that I can afford it. I know my main problem is portion control and I eat my main meal around noon, 1:00. That, combined with NO exercise, is a big problem. How can I do portion control and still feel full while maintaining my diabetes diet? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Depending on your finances but have you ever thought of a treadmill, speeds are ajustable and you can walk in the comfort and safety of your home. That's what I use and walk every night.

There is a walking DVD that you can do right in your home. Its called Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone. She's absolutely wonderful and teaches you how you can lose weight by walking in your home. You can buy the DVD's pretty cheaply on Ebay. They're a good way to start out.
