sugar alcohols
Hi! I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in February of this year. I have been doing well and am very optimistic about my future success. I have tried sugar-free bars, ice cream, etc. and most of them have sugar alcohols that have caused me alot of intestinal distress (lots of gas and diarrhea). Any alternatives, because I would like a little sweetness in my life…thanks.

The consensus seems to be unanimous. Real is better than artificial. You just have to adjust your portion sizes and maybe when you "treat" yourself. Now I will say that ice cream is my vice, and I do limit myself to Bluebell home made vanilla. Once I venture into the ones with all the "extra stuff" in it, I loose that battle. So I stick to what works, but I don't have to give up everything, either do yo.
Hello and welcome
I just stick to the real thing if I need the treet its much safer for me
Best wishes

As kdroberts stated, stick with the real thing.
There is nothing that a diabetic cannot have, it's all about portion control and moderation, no special diets or foods are necessary unless prescribed by your doctor or nutritionist.

Try the real things, they are usually much better for you all round than the things that use a whole bunch of junk. A small amount of proper ice cream or a few pieces of good dark chocolate will also satisfy you a lot more.
thank you kdroberts. I just joined this today and I know it will be very helpful for me.
