Being placed in insulin right away as a form of treatment is actually not invasive or aggressive at all. Each doctor has their own ways of treating their patients with diabetes. It is okay to question the purposes/reasons why the doctor went in this direction in the first place. NEVER be afraid to speak up and ask the doctor "why" they chose to go it this way. It is perfectly okay to know…In fact, doctors like it when you ask questions. Also, there is no such thing as a dumb or stupid question either.

The type 1 test panel kdroberts may be talking about is the "C-Peptide" test panel. While this test can be a helpful tool, it is not always as accurate for some individuals either. I was reading up on this in an article a long while back. Welcome to our community and we are here for you.

Likely they are guessing she is type 1 due to her age so insulin is appropriate and won't hurt. Its not really aggressive for anyone really, just one treatment. Did they run the type 1 test panel?
