Your A1C is within the normal ranges 4.5 to 6. Have you been told you are diabetic or prediabetic?

My Doctor is Great but, the only way I found out I have a high reading is that I havent been feeling good for some time now and Saturday I ate some pancakes and after that I had to lay down, and I felt dizzy, so I went to Drug store and bought a Kit, to read blood sugar and it was 180, I kept taking test until Monday then contacted My Doctor and she ran a A1C test, she called back , said my AC1 results showed a result of 135, and she want's me to start taking some meds, I went to pick them up and they gave me the possible side effects from them, scared me to death… am I nut's or is this stuff METFORMEN really dangerus..Mike

There is really no test for average blood sugar. If you want to know if you are diabetic, a fasting test and/or a glucose tolerance test is needed.
