The surgery is a big blur to me of course! I am having a little pain, but is to be expected I'm sure. I AM NOT up washing dishes as my husband stated lol. I will let him and the kiddos have that for the next two weeks or so. I am using this to my advantage. Anytime I don't feel like doing something…guess what…my foot hurts hahaaaa. I appreciate all the prayers, support, and positive feedback! I am enjoying the attention and the "time off". I posted a picture of the incision as it had to be rewrapped today. If it offends anyone please let me know and I will remove it! I also posted some pics my husband thinks are hilarious, I am not impressed but admit it is kinda funny. Just for the record, I do not remember any of that period of time :) But all in all, I am doing well, and recovery is going as planned per the doctors statement. He said he had never seen a more successful metatarsal Osteotomy. So I am looking forward to a positive outcome here and walking without pain from now on!! Thank you all again for the prayers and well wishes!! I will be on and off the next few days to check in, please don't think I'm ignoring anything or anyone!

Hope your pain level is down and your energy is up today. It usually took a little while for me to feel energetic after surgery. With all your resting time you can spend some extra time here at DC. I don't think any of us would think you're getting on our nerves.
Bet your kids hated you being gone and are much happier you're there to annoy them.

They kinda like the fact that i cant chase them or get around to to them lol. So, i have learned to throw the crutches at them (im joking) I am feeling less energetic but its itching really bad so i know thats a good sign. The stitches are supposed to stay in until Friday of next week but he said he may take them out monday if it is itching as much as i say, it must be healing faster than he thought. He had me email him my bg numbers and he said he is so impressed with them i should not carry a diabetic label only live by the rules of it and that made my heart turn flips to hear that! I am bored out of my mind and there is so much garbage on tv that i dont even turn it on most days. man, i didnt realize it had gotten so bad. The kids watch tv upstairs in their rooms but i think i am going to find a way to limit their channels. its just pure crazy what they consider entertainment now days. what happened to gun smoke and all the good movies? thanks for your support!

How wonderful to know you are doing so well with your BG. It is good when the Dr. is happy with your progress. I understand the boredom. Just got back from Dr. He says I can resume most of my normal activities. Said that he "has fixed" the leg vascular problem. He will set up when he wants to see me in a year. Just released me to my reg Dr. And cleared me for the Aug 2 surgery. Which will mean more "I'm bored with being on restrictions" again. TV is seldom on around me. I watch TCM channel some. It has no commercials to drive me crazy. Researching on the web is what occupies me. I work on genealogy, try to learn medical stuff, work on recipes, and wotry to learn Danish. By Oct maybe I'll be able to make more Danish Knock Knock jokes than I can now.

i want to speak spanish a little more fluent than i can. i do stay online a good bit but honestly after about 20 minutes i fall asleep anyways. i am going to school online but took a leave because i knew i wouldnt want to try to think about all that stuff lol. Having diabetes is what makes me want to be a nurse. i was a lab tech for a while but then married a soldier and got shipped around the world and never went back to work or school. now he is getting medically discharged because of an injury in afghanistan so we are going home to south carolina, and i will want to go back to work there! So hopefully i will finish school in time to go take the state exam and be a nurse when i get there :) My lunch and dinner lately have been cucumbers and carrots. im having some trouble holding stuff down. today i am going to taco bell, so i hope this is not a bad idea lol. a friend wanted to get me out so we are going to my doctors appt and to taco bell. the appt is at 4:05, dont know why he made it so late in the day, im a morning person! im glad you are feeling better and will be praying for your future surgery! Please let me know how it goes!

I am glad to hear everything came out good. And a slow recovery is always good. Take all the time you need.

soldierswife 2010-07-15 15:56:41 -0500 Report

yes, yesterday i felt like a million bucks, i even walked to the table to eat. today it looks a mile away hehe. i just have no energy and even didn't take pain meds to see if that helped. i think all the "good" meds from the surgery are actually falling off today totally and its hitting me like a mack truck. but i feel good, and am ready to be running my boys down in the yard showing them girls can beat boys at football lol! man how i never appreciated my feet before now!

I am glad to hear from and about you. None of us like the thought of surgery but modern medicine has come such a long way that what seems so frightening for us is really just routine for the doctors and nursing staff. My wife just had a heart surgery yesterday and I am up in the middle of the night to call and check up on her. I have been thinking of you and depositing hugs into our hug bank for you and the family, knowing you can use them. While the physical therapy is gonna be a pain in the foot (among other places) it is very important so keep pushing yourself. Keep us posted and know that you're being thought of. HUGZ!!!

Ray, I am so sorry about your wife! I am praying for her recovery, and health and your strength to help her through it and for both of you to be at peace with it! Thank you for your prayers and they are appreciated and being returned! Many hugs back at ya!! Please keep me (us) updated on the wifey! I hope she does well!!

You are so sweet, I too am glad we became friends, you are sweet and we do have some much in common. You are correct I would have started the race down the hospital hall in wheel chairs LOL! I wish we were closer, I would be over right now to help out and cook for you and your family an authentic low carb meal! Bless your children for helping you and understanding. Tell Haleigh I am so proud of her and her achievements.

It is not uncommon to have blur memory of a surgery as you were under anethesia and in shock of what was about to occur. However, milking the kindness of your hubby and kids is ok with me. I would milk it too! LOL if I was there would probably be your live in nanny and cater to your every need until I see you are able to care for yourself again. I would say 1 month until you are able to do the dishes and wash the laundry. You earned that much! LOL!

Your friend Have a Blessed Evening! I don't know why I am posting this as I am telling you this as I am typing it. Funny! Glad you are doing better and glad I am able to make you laugh! :~)

soldierswife 2010-07-14 21:16:42 -0500 Report

its ok that you tell me and type it, just in case i dont remember this i can go back and read it lol. I enjoy talking to you a lot and appreciate you taking time out of your day/evening for me! You have helped me a great deal as i feel "stuck" here in the house. I am overwhelmed at how many people actually prayed for me and kept me in their thoughts! It means so much, it really does. You are a super person and i love your personality. we have so much in common and i wish we were even just an hour closer so we could drive to each other more often. That would be awesome! You know if you were here, we would be out racing around in the motorized wheel chairs hehe!! Shopping sounds good right about now, just have no energy. I do have to go to the grocery store tomorrow for some quick microwavable stuff. Hope i can keep my numbers well with this. God has brought me this far, he is not going to leave me now!

Good to hear from you! Yes, that's what kids are for...honey please, sweetie would you....I need some go girl. It looks painful. I just ingrown nail removed and that did me in for a week. You have stitches, you get two weeks! LOL
Glad you are feeling better.

soldierswife 2010-07-14 21:05:43 -0500 Report

Well…the doctor said 8-10 weeks, but I dont know if I can milk it that long lol…i need to be up and about! Sorry about your ingrown, those hurt a lot!

GabbyPA 2010-07-14 21:10:56 -0500 Report

Those were nothing compared to that. And like you, the pain relief was WELL worth the pain endured. I just end up with a "happy toe" family as my foot was elevated, my step-daughter would draw happy faces on each of my toes, but the big toe got a sad face. LOL. It was so funny. The things we do.
