Can anyone give me a link to a site that I can find out for sure how many Calories, Carbs & all the GOOD stuff that are in individual fruits & vegetables. Unless you buy a bag or carton of these products you don't get a nutritonal listing with them.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Hi Lymy: I have 2 great books. Joy Bauer's Food Cures, and Calorie, Fat and Carb. counter by Calorie King. Their website is The first one is by a nutritionist And lists the foods you need and the vitamins and minerals that are in them. This is the only book I have found that told me what foods contained the different vitamins, etc. It is fantastic. Hopes this helps. Liquorish

It would not pay me to purchase such a device as you mention cause a) I can't afford it and b) I don't know how to operate the contraptions anyway.

Calorie King,, Weight Watchers, Sparkpeople and are my personal favorites.

I highly recommend getting a smartphone if you don't have one, (iPod or Android) and getting some of the excellent apps out there.

Thank you! I had about forgotten that I wrote this because it has been just on a year since I made this posting. Do you have a price of that book? I actually contacted the U.S.D.A. and got some good information from them. But, again thank you for you response.

Calorie King is a small book found at Walmart as well as other bookstores. It is published annually so by now you should be able to find 2011. It lists by calories, fats, and carbs for everything A-Z and then by restaurants and by boxed or frozen dinners. I haven't eaten anything I could not find. I did have to piece together the salad and soup and chili I make and divide by serving, so I wrote that down in the front. The ones I use most often I wrote in a list. It is handy for grocery or eating out! Good luck

There is also a large print of Calorie King. The book is larger and the print is a little bit larger. Well worth the price. I have also gone to their web site if I couldn't find what I need in the book. Haven't seen it at Walmart, but will look the next time. just out of curiousity!

I'm new, I don't presume to tell anyone that I do not know, what to do. I wish I could, but, I can only be me. My gift to others is to do what I can, teach them how to do for themselves. The rest is up to them. Desire and committment is necessary to succeed in anything, this is especially true when it comes to our health. I have more than one problem, but I'm working on them one at a time. Exercise and diet has kept me in control of my diabetes for two to three years. Other health problems have upset that balance, but I'm learning that nothing is impossible with a determination to m ake the best of a situation. Nice to meet you!

I would love to get whatever you want to give, however, I don't give my email address out to anyone. If you have another way of getting it to me all well and good.
Thank you for responding\Regards,

Now this will just give you info on counting the carbs in fruits and vegetables but I love it. Depend on it daily and makes eating fresh fruit so much easier:

If you are interested, there are carb factors for other foods too, including combination dishes that I find challenging to count. that article just happened to highlight using carb factors for fruit.

Calorie King is one that many people use here.

You can also use and set up a profile in the Diabetes specific group and find some great information and tools there.

Thank you!. I have also made contact with the USDA for assistance. They forwarded me to NC State University Extension services. They sent me to the extension service in my county. They did not have anyone in that posiion right then so they told me to contact the neighboring county, where I spoke to the nicest lady who is going to get me a packet of information together. The gentleman I spoke to from my county apologized for not having anyone in that position at present. He told me that if I didn't get what I needed from the neighboring county I was to call him back and he would get me some information from the University. He said he thought his position would give him more leverage in getting hand outs and such. Only time will tell.

I did note what was said in all replies so I will have somewhere to start until I see what the county extension service sends to me.

Thanks for your response

Great idea. Most people don't think of that helpful connection. Extension is a wealth of information and I hope you get some good info.

For my recipes, I use
I can type in each recipe ingredient and the site will add up total nutrition of the recipe, divide it by number of servings, and give me a very accurate serving rundown. If I need the lowdown on a specific fruit or veggie, I usually just type the name of that thing into google search. eg: 'green bell pepper nutrition' and I'll get several sites to choose from.
