Has anyone noticed that a bottle of Novelin N gets weaker as time goes by. By the time I have used 2/3 of a bottle in about 2 weeks I find I need more units to work as well as the amount I needed in week one. The bottles are not old and are kept in a cool place after I open a new bottle. I gently rotate the bottle each time as instructed to mix the solution. I have been noticing this for quite a while. Has this happened to you?

This happens with a lot of insulins. I take Novolog and Levemir. Both are flex pens. The Novolog appears to loose it's strength after about a week & 1/2. Sometimes it's hard to tell, because their are days when you just need more insulin @ different times of the day. I always keep my used insulins in a nice cooler bag. I carry my bag with me always, because if I don't, i'll most definitely forget it in the fridge… Then i'll be in trouble.. Not a good thing to be starving yourself because you forget your insulin…LOL.

Until recently, I took insulin for years and have noticed that. I would keep my bottles in the refrigerator even after I opened them just because of that. I also noticed that it made a difference where I injected. If I injected in my arms or legs my blood sugar would run higher on those days. When I injected in my stomach or hip region my blood sugar would be lower.
