I have just finished my third (and last) month on the Nutrisystem - D weight loss plan for Diabetics. I did loss about 20 pounds but had very little effect on my blood sugar level. I walk/jog every morning yet I see little difference. I am still averaging about 145 in the AM and 170 in the evening. I am currently not on insulin, taking Metformin 1000mg twice a day. The doctor is waiting for my recent A1C test to determine the next course of action, either staying on meds or going to insulin.

Has anyone else had better success with Nutrisystem-D or have had the same results as I have had? Just curious; I am not out to berate Nutrisystems.

I too tried it without much success. The food is not very good and it is very expensive. In addition, the company was sending me double shipments, and double charging me. I did get that straightened out, but I also canceled NutriD. I also tried weight watchers, but limited success there also. My metabolism seems to stall. I cannot walk for very long due to back pain from arthritis, so my exercise is limited. Any suggestions??

Just looking at the items on the menu, it didn't look like they would help much with blood sugar. The 20lb loss should help you though when you start counting carbs and eating things that work for you. Just use your meter as a guide and the other thongs you do will complement it.

GabbyPA 2010-07-07 17:55:10 -0500 Report mom tried the regular one for a while before the D came out. I guess because I cook a lot and use fresh ingredients, it just grosses me out. Man, I have not eaten such bad stuff. I guess if it was all I had, I would loose weight, but I would eat someone's head off at the same time.

I wanted to Try Nutri System but now that I see what happens I will not join.
I think we need to open Diabetes Restaurants across America this will take care of the working people who do not have time to make a healthy breakfast, Lunch or dinner for their families and themselves. I wrote a letter to Mr Obama last year requesting that he do this no response. I also asked him to open Nursing Homes for the elderly. This is also a subject I believe that they do not want to address. Unemployment would disappear and we would have a healthy America by building and running DR s = diabetes restaurants across America. Nursing homes are needed NOW to be built across America and if wait too long we will have a catastophe on our hands with all the elderly not having a place to live out their lives with dignity. I asked Mr Obama last year to build DIABETES RESTAURANTS and NURSING HOMES across America. My Mother (89) is in The Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY. My mother had her Annual Review ( 3 yrs now) and I asked them if My Mother could have two showers a week instead of just one. The Head Nurse said they could fit her in on Fridays right after breakfast. People do not want to work in Nursing Homes like this unless they are desperate needing this kind of work to survive or have great compassion and not do it for the money which is not that great. This is why Mr Obama or the Congress should create an Agency for the Elderly across America with people who are trained who have the compassion to do this kind of work with the elderly. Please build them NOW before it is too late.
Mr Obama - Mr President please for the General Welfare please create an Agency for Diabetes and build across America the DR s = Diabetes Restaurants.
Unemployment would go away building DR s and NHFTE Nursing Homes For the Elderly who are so desperately crying out for help but no can hear them especially when they cant say too much with heart attacks or strokes. They should be treated with dignity to live out their lives with the same attention that Professional Atheletes give to the young in Cancer Centers etc. Right now it appears that America does not want to address the issue on TAKING CARE OF THE ELDERLY is not on the agenda.
Now is the time to create and build these restaurant for Diabetes and Nursing Homes for The Elderly. We will have a healthy country of people then who can shown compassion for the elderly at the same time . Everybody wins then. Please hear me. The Time is NOW just like what you did for Health Reform Laws that were just passed and will not go into effect until 2014. There is time now to right the wrong for unemployment to go away along with having a healthy America to erase obesity and diabetes in America.
What more can one ask for the people of America than the government who is suppose to be AGENTS for the American people and who were elected by the people, for the people to build these DR' s and NHFTE's . The Economy would be great. Healthy people, compassionate people building an America for the GENERAL WELFARE. That s it. Tom Paris

Not to be a stooge, but why would you ask Obama to do these things? That is a private industry and should be left in the private sector so that the money made goes back into the community, not into politician's pockets.

With that being said, I think you have a great idea on the diabetic diners, so you could start looking into that need and start up the business of your own. I think it would be a great niche and we could fill the place of the cooks, wait staff and management. Diabetics working for diabetics. What a cool concept. This is the kind of ingenuity that our country needs to get back on it's feet. It is going to come from individuals, not the government.

I say, go for it Tom! Let us know when the first one opens and when the franchises will be available.

Totally agree! We don't need another govt. agency, and believe me the creation of one will not take care of all the unemployment!

I'm with you Gabby, Cook your own whole foods and D safe meals. Its not as hard as it sounds. As my Father used to say when I was growing up. "If you can read, you can cook" It doesn't take much to make really great meals that are great for controlling your BG and lose weight in the process. Going and purchasing Nutra-processed foods or WeightWatchers - Processed foods seems such a waste of good money and time.
just google Diabetic Recipes and you will find hundreds of them..

Good Luck to all of you.

On tonights Menu.. Chicken Alfredo Speghetti Squash :) Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmm

I have had the sample dinners and found them full of sodium and lacked flavor and the snacks and desserts were absolutely foul tasting. I would never go on this diet not worth the money in my opinion. There are much better options that don't cost you an arm and a leg and will improve your health that are actually good to eat.
