Heat Advisory for the Eastern United States !

According to National Weather Service, a heat advisory is when high humidity is expected to combine with hot temperatures creating a “feel-like” temperature between 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours.

Try to stay cool and comfortable if you can.
Have plenty of cool fluids on hand, your diabetes medical supplies and your phone nearby in case of an emergency.

Check in on your loved ones, make sure that they are doing ok.

I live in CA. I love our weather here, when we were in Tx. I could not deal with the heat! When we were in LA. I slept when it was hot! I pray it cools down & keep smiling! =)

I know I tend to sometimes even brag about the heat here in the Sonoran Desert but the high here today was 111 F and the forecast tomorrow is 110. Currently, at just after midnight, my Weatherbug says 99. Fortunately, the humidity rarely gets above the single digits.

Expecting another 101 degree day today (thursday).
I was never a heat lover, but no reason to complain, do what is necessary, thank God for air conditioning !

100 degrees here in Northeastern Pennsylvania at 3:51 p.m. It's been really hot all weekend. Make sure you take care of your animals as well as yourselves! Don't leave your pets outside for extended periods of itme, make sure they have plenty of fresh water to drink and try to keep them as cool as possible.

I live in Hopkinsville, Ky. It's near Fort Campbell , 101st air assult. Does that help?

Thomas508 2010-07-07 07:46:36 -0500 Report

You are more west than where I lived. I have never been to Hopkinsville but I have been close driving up I-24 on my way to St. Louis Missouri several years back.

I'm in Az by theses standards there should have been a heat advisory for the last week it's been over 110!! ( NO we're not used to it LOL) Stay cool and make sure you are hydrated before you leave home and take plenty of water or gatorade to stay hydrated all day.

It is going to be hot again here as well. Because of the other illnesses I have I avoid like crazy being outside when it is this hot. It makes me feel ill, very tired and faint as well. Very good advice though!

Thanks Mays, I live in chicago and it is suppose to be hot and humid here also. How does the hot weather affects those who are diabetics?

MAYS 2010-07-06 08:48:10 -0500 Report

Sweating is an important means of cooling the body in hot weather, and past research has shown that the ability to sweat in the heat can be impaired in some patients with diabetes.

A diabetic's body works very hard trying to balance out our metabolism compared to that of a non diabetic.
Try to stay cool and drink plenty of fluids and be safe.

It does not affect me, I don't get out in the direct heat. I run errands early and late in the evening and get as close as I can to the AC LOL!
