I am sort of new to all this. Some of you have taken me on as a friend which I am totally thankful for, and others well you and I have not had the chance to introduce ourselves to each other, and what is most interesting is we are all part of the same family to some degree..we are diabetics. So in saying that we need to support each other to the best of our ablitlies and in doing so we help ourselves by knowing we are not alone.
What little time I have spent here posting my concerns or asking for input have been the best support, advice, care and concern that I have gotten. I am going to be more thoughtful and try to be more active on this site, and try to give back something even if its just a little comfort or laughter.. I do love to laugh even staring in the wicked eye of diabetes.
My number still bounce all over the place and to see me dance when I get them down to 122 is quite hysterical. Now whether my doc thinks their worth dancing over on the 9th, well we'll see. I'll let you know.
A while back when I first logged on I was concerned about going camping and being newly diagnosed. Well the camping was a disaster! My numbers were the best ever, but the trip was horrible. The weather was so bad we had to sleep in my car…no more camping on the California Coast in June..I'll wait until the Indian Summer. I will say though through all that fog, wind (more like tornados) my daughter and I managed to laugh. As we sat in my car and could hear and see things whizzing past…our tent folded in half, buckets, chairs, others and our supplies, I would say "hey watch that see where it goes, that was a nice chair.." and check the weather, " winds 10 MPH..Uh no what are these weather people smoking?" We laughed.
So yes diabetes sucks, life is hard, and everyday is a challenge even more so for us. That's what makes our lives richer and more worth living. I'm happy with who I am and you all should be happy with who you are even with diabetes..oh and by the way..I had my 17th birthday on July 4th…17 years sober..yeah that's right..I rock!
Peace, love and laugh
