I am sort of new to all this. Some of you have taken me on as a friend which I am totally thankful for, and others well you and I have not had the chance to introduce ourselves to each other, and what is most interesting is we are all part of the same family to some degree..we are diabetics. So in saying that we need to support each other to the best of our ablitlies and in doing so we help ourselves by knowing we are not alone.
What little time I have spent here posting my concerns or asking for input have been the best support, advice, care and concern that I have gotten. I am going to be more thoughtful and try to be more active on this site, and try to give back something even if its just a little comfort or laughter.. I do love to laugh even staring in the wicked eye of diabetes.
My number still bounce all over the place and to see me dance when I get them down to 122 is quite hysterical. Now whether my doc thinks their worth dancing over on the 9th, well we'll see. I'll let you know.
A while back when I first logged on I was concerned about going camping and being newly diagnosed. Well the camping was a disaster! My numbers were the best ever, but the trip was horrible. The weather was so bad we had to sleep in my car…no more camping on the California Coast in June..I'll wait until the Indian Summer. I will say though through all that fog, wind (more like tornados) my daughter and I managed to laugh. As we sat in my car and could hear and see things whizzing past…our tent folded in half, buckets, chairs, others and our supplies, I would say "hey watch that see where it goes, that was a nice chair.." and check the weather, " winds 10 MPH..Uh no what are these weather people smoking?" We laughed.
So yes diabetes sucks, life is hard, and everyday is a challenge even more so for us. That's what makes our lives richer and more worth living. I'm happy with who I am and you all should be happy with who you are even with diabetes..oh and by the way..I had my 17th birthday on July 4th…17 years sober..yeah that's right..I rock!

Peace, love and laugh

Dancing is one of my celebration rituals also whenever I have good results. If people laugh just pretend they're sharing your joy. That's what I do.

Hello there! If it is one thing I have learned (and I do not care what others say) I celebrate when I can get my numbers below 200 on an ongoing bases. The numbers may not be where you're doctor whats them but you're doing it and they are coming down. That is reason enough to be happy. This is a accomplishment…You should be proud of yourself for getting to that level. Seeing is believing…and when you believe in yourself you begin to gain within yourself.

Yes! That's what I'm talkin about! We all need to be happy, proud, and ready to dance. Life is to short to waste it away on worry, dispair, all the negative will drag us down. It's about attitude, and yes we all have days that seem well, quite miserable. Thats the itty bitty _hitty comittee talking and I refuse to hang with them…grab each day and always find the time somewhere to smile and better yet laugh and dance..
Thanks for the reply,
We'll talk again soon I'm sure

You said it, we at least have some choices here. There are those who don't. I have a brother who constantly complains about his life, which is in the toilet because of choices he made. I told him to get off his pitty pot take a drive to the local childrens hospital and just watch the broken hearted people that cry, smile, laugh try to make the best out of every moment let alone everyday…

First of all Happy Birthday/Anniversary. That message sure brings home to what "Independence Day" is all about… wow… 17 years!!! That's awesome!!! Congratulations!!!

It is great that you're joining us and sharing with us. We are all here to teach and learn, which just floors me sometimes to be among such a wonderful group of members. To me, this place is a family. I've "met" people here that I probably will never meet but many of whom who I feel like I've known forever.

I so hope to hear more from and about you … the joys and sorrows.

You bet, and thanks for the congrats. I will be popping in as much as I can. I am in the process of moving to help my mom out. She has lost her sight from glaucoma, and has other health issues as well. I am not thrilled to move back home, but under the circumstances I need to. So that's enough gabbin here need to get back at it.
Thanks again
