I took my daughter to the doctor yesterday, and her thyroids are out of whack, and her sugar! So, today I talked to the people at Duke university about the team of doctors she will be meeting and they will be working with her for the next year or longer to get this fixed and medicated. I am praying they dont remove her thyroids. She is only 11. I don't know how all these illnesses have struck my family but I know God has a plan and he is going to make it work out to his will!! Keep her in your prayers please!

Hey there,
I am sorry to hear about your little girl, but I know that she will be okay. I know it's hard during this time, and to say this sounds almost rude, but please don't forget yourself. You need to stay on top of yourself and your needs in this time as well. She needs you in one piece and as healthy as you can be.
My daughter went through a ton of weight gain just about her age. She wasn't ill or anything she just gained weight. Girls do sometimes before other changes start taking place. I kept her moving and playing and eventually she wanted to join our local swim team. It was summer so why not. Not only did she learn to swim like a fish, but she ended up getting a full ride to college, and missed the Olympic trials by 1/100th of a second. She is gorgeous today, and swimming has made her determined and hardworking in other aspects of her life.
Find something she loves, swimming, dancing, volleyball, cheerleading, something that makes her happy and will keep her moving. You'll meet people, probably get a little exercise yourself, and have a lot of fun too. If you have other kids get them involved too…make it a family thing it will be fun whatever you all choose to do.
This will all be okay, I just know it…
You take care,
peace, love and laughter

I will pray for her. So glad you have so much faith, what would we do without our faith? Like I said in my email to you, my daughter is big too, she just recently learned she doesn't have diabetes, or even pre-diabetic, thank the Lord. But I do worry cause she is 95 lbs. and only 8. She will be 9 soon, but this is too much and this began happening kind of fast the last couple of years. Her self esteem is getting lower and it is all in her tummy, she is larger boned. She calls herself fat. I hate it for her, so I know what you are going through too. My daughter's thyroid has not been checked. It never occurred to me that a child even your daughter's age, could have a problem with it. The doctors have not mentioned it. So we might need to look into that. But I am trying to get her to eat right (that is a war too) and exercise more. She likes exercise at least. I know it will work out with your daughter, but it is hard news. I just hope your daughter doesn't worry too much about it. Yes, you are a strong mother and very concerned one so she is lucky.

thank you so much!! She started getting big around 9, and it spiraled as of the last 2 years. We ride bikes a lot and that does great for us. we hike a good bit too. last weekend we hiked 3 miles and i was the one that was ready to die lol! Make it a family thing! Include everyone and things go smoother! Her depression is going at a fast rate too, so thats what grabbed my attention. she is so humble and if she can do it, i can do it. WE can ALL do it!! Faith is all we got because without, all we get is wishing and that will only take us so far!! Thank you for your support!

I will be praying for your daughter as well as you. We never know what God's plans are for our life but if we allow Him he will work it for the good. Sometimes it is hard to let him take control because we want to do it ourselves, then we realized that we can't do it ourselves but need Him to do it .

I am sorry to hear about your daughter. Keep your Faith up, God will never leave you to handle this by yourself. I have a thyroid problem as well and I take medication for it. Haileigh sounds like a remarkable child, you are blessed to have her. My prayers are with you, Haileigh and your family.

My prayers, thoughts and well wishes are with you.
Being a parent myself, I know how you must feel.

The strength is there, you just have to tap into it, do not lose faith, faith in God, faith in yourself, faith in the doctors or faith in your daughter.

Both believing that it can done and doing it are essential for healing, place everyone and everything involved in the correct perspective and take it from there.

Please keep us informed on both the status and progress of your daughter's health.

thank you so much mays! I was relieved to have a diagnosis, I just hated it was so devastating ya know. But I know God is watching over her and he will bring us through anything we ask him to and I do have the faith that this is going to be ok! I just worry too much I am sure, but the human in me wont let me not! But I appreciate all the prayers and support that you all have shown me here! I cannot express to you how much it means to me to have people that care, even some of you more than "real" family! She is upset over her biological dad not really showing concern over it, and this is the first time she has really ask for him like this, my husband has done a wonderful job consoling her, so there are a lot of factors that play into the heart breaking scenario here, but God is still in the miracle business and we will make it!

I believe Haleigh will be fine, there are medications out there that can help control the thyroids, I will say a prayer for her as well as her sugars.

She is so strong to be able to handle this and having a strong mother as you to help her with this will teach her to overcome all obstacles and she can take control of it. Keep up the great work being a great mother and guiding her.

God Bless and Hugs for you both! :~)
