Hello there to all! I am kind of wondering what other people are using for their skin prep with the insulin pump. I am using the I.V. Prep that I originally started with. My husband wanted me to try to do without it and felt it was not a necessary thing for my pump therapy. Money is so tight and hard right now. I tried it his way and realized I can not with my skin. I am looking for a cheaper alternative besides going without it.

I shave the area so I don't pull the hair when I remove it, then I swab with alcohol pad.
That is all I do and I don't have a problem.
I have heard a little about I.V. prep. but don't have a need right now.

Wow! I was never advised to use anything so I just swab the area with alcohol before inserting the infusion set and also when I remove one. Sometimes it gets irritated but quickly subsides…no real problems. Should I be doing something differently? Time to go back and read the manual I guess.
