I have two children (and said VERY POSSIBLE I have it too). with the Mitochondrial Disease. Because diabetes runs on both sides of my family, 1 side on my husbands, and the Mitochondrial, the doctors are constantly keeping a tight eye. I very curious how as a whole the symptoms you have from the Mitochondrial in conjunction with the diabetes. Because of my insurance and the only accurate way to diagnose is by muscle biopsy. They can not accurately do this with me. BUT, they did run the genetics tests through kids to know it is genetically from my side. There is still a possibility according to Mayo Clinic that it was also passed on from my husband. I would love to talk to you more about this. It is nice to know there is someone out there I can talk to about this disease and maybe a little support. I too have type 2 diabetes and have to treat my with insulin. I look forward in talking with you soon-I hope.
