Being Successful!

As I was going through my emails, I seen I had gotten a email from I decided to take a look and see what was sent to me. I was very impressed with the topic "The Stages of Change: Understanding Your Motivation". I read on into this article and was amazed in how it hit home. They discussed the 6 different stages of change and game me more links to further help my stages of change. We all want to be successful with managing our diabetes. There are times that it is hard than others…easier said than done. BUT… I believe it is a mind thing and what is in your heart. I would agree about the need to be positive AND faith in yourself. Not being willing to give up so easy. There are may reasons why we all have our downs and relapsing after trying. Move beyond this, get back up, and try it again.

I may not like what my numbers say on my machine, or what the scale may tell me, or over doing a special snack. But, I do not allow it to bring me down or tell me "you can do it…you're a failure". I pick myself up and move forward. I remind myself that I CAN do this…I WILL do this… and I WANT to do this…as I have said on other posts. Here is my outlook and take on success:
1. Set 1-2 reachable and realistic goals.
2. Set a reasonable deadline
3. When it comes time, evaluate your progress, make changes as you need to. If you have accomplished that goal. Start another goal and repeat this.

The whole point is to make small and manageable changes in your life. If you set too many goals and changes at one time. There is a higher risk of relapsing. This goes for EVERYTHING: your BG management, eating, fitness, and care. Do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed. If you are feeling overwhelmed, take a step back, breath, and re-evaluate the situation.

The final two notes I want to say here is: do not be afraid to ask for help or a question. There is no such as a stupid question or asking for help. We are all human and each think and feel differently. Do not be afraid to fall or beat yourself up if you shall fall. Again, we are all human and make mistakes. What we can do is learn, grow, and move forward. We can do this… Have faith and believe in yourself. Don't over push or rush yourself. With a little patience and time, the rewards and greatness will come for you. Best of wishes to all and know YOU CAN do this :)

You are so right - set your goals and don't give up if you don't make it at first. Your right you need to just keep trying and you will reach your goals.

Just the push that I needed, I felt like I was in a rut. So thanks to you, I set some new goals for myself.Baby steps to make the changes last.Thanks for the push!!

Yes sir reeee! That is the key to making changes that stick. Life style changes that we can enjoy come small steps like this. I like the Live Strong site, I use it and it has great info.

Have you used the My Plate D tool on the live strong site? My wife loves it!!! She's not on the "D" version though

I've looked at it BUT haven't really had a chance to get deeper into it. I might take a look at this between studying and summer clean-out.
