I mentioned before that I was diagnosed on May 18, 2010 as being Type II Diabetic. But, even before I was diagnosed, I had started trying to lose weight and eat healthier, going on a low carb diet to combat the PCOS that I was diagnosed with years ago. After the diabetes diagnosis, I was even more determined to lose weight, since I was put right on insulin and I was not happy.

Well, Friday, I went to see my PCP for a my one month follow up after my initial appointment and not only is he going to try and ween me off the insulin and on to oral meds, but I found that I have lost 50 pounds since I started trying to lose all the excess weight! And now that I'm cleared from my surgery, I can get back on my Wii Fit and start doing more exercises and walking and whatnot! I just had to share! Thanks for listening!

Fantastic to hear this, just shows we all can beat this, we just need to stay motivated. Yes I too love the WII fit, I was off it for a while due to hernaited discs in my back, but I lost 35 pounds in past 3 months and huge difference in my back the pain is going away big time.
I'm waiting for my actual numbers sometime today I go pick them up at the doctors office. But I got a phone call let a message saying all my numbers came down and is looking great and they keep doing what I'm doing. So very anxouis to see what my numbers really are.
Thank you for a happy posting

Thanks! It's so true. I've been overweight my whole life, and would lose a little weight and then gain it back again because I didn't really have a concrete reason to lose. All the you could develop this, or you could develop that wasn't enough. But now I have a real reason and a real determination to get back to somewhat normal and get off meds and never get back on. *laughs* I know it might not work out that way, but it's not going to stop me from trying!

Thanks so much! I just keep trying to remember that I didn't put the weight on fast, so it's not going to come off fast, but, you're right, it's hard to remember things like that when you're always in a hurry. *laughs*

Thanks so much! My surgery went fabulously! I'm cleared to get back to exercising now, which is great! I'm so excited. I started the other day with my Wii Fit Plus and I can't wait to get to it!

I misunderstood cleared from surgery to mean cleared FOR surgery. I know how excited my wife was after knee surgery to be allowed back to the pool at the Y. That's awesome! Wife and I have been talking about a Wii Fit lately so your testimonial is at a perfect time. Keep up the good work(out)!!!

If you are considering it, I would recommend the Wii Fit Plus. There are two different "games" - Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus. Wii Fit Plus is more advanced in that you can switch character profiles within the game, rather than exiting out of the game completely to switch back and forth. Plus also has more exercises and mini games to choose from like Rhythm Boxing and Kung Fu Dance and marching in a parade. It's so much fun! It doesn't even feel like working out. My mother and I do it together. One of us working out on the board while the other works out on an aerobic stepper, side by side, so we're both getting exercise in, even if it isn't always being tracked by the computer. Another fun thing your wife might enjoy - belly dancing! It's great exercise and you learn an awesome dance style. I used to attend classes until I had to get rid of my gym membership due to funding problems. But there are tons of DVDs that go from beginner to advanced and it's really fun.

Looks like your doing great. When diagnosed my fasting blood sugar was 366 and A1C was 14.1. I took Metformin for about 7 weeks and by making a lot of changes to my diet I was able to stop taking the meds. It didn’t take long for my blood sugar to get better and my last four A1C’s have all been below 6.0.

Good luck
Kevin

Go you! I'm working hard. So far, my levels have been mostly under 100, with only a few between 100 and 120, and only if I eat a few too many carbs. But I've got a long way to go, and I know I'll see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Your numbers look great to me. I scanned all my blood sugar Charts into the computer and posted them on my blog. I had to post by year because of the space it takes up. Your readings are probley better than mine. Keep up the great work. Keep your numbers down you may not need the meds.

Unfortunately, right now, I'm on insulin, but my doctor is switching me to oral meds slowly. I'm shooting for no meds at all, though!

Great job! That is the spirit. Keep on believing you can do it no matter if you are having a good day or bad.

Thanks so much! Even on days when I get tired, I just keep remembering that I have to get this weight off and hopefully get off the meds.

Thanks so much! I was so surprised. I didn't think I'd lost all that much. Definitely a lot more to go, but I'm getting there.

And isn't it fun stepping into something you have not worn in awhile and it is too big? :)

I haven't had that yet, but it's great and a pain at the same time that all my clothes are getting too big! I'm going to have to have all my dress clothes taken in so I don't lose my pants at work!
