I have been on lantus, avandia, and glipizide for quite some time now. I recently lost my medical benefits due to getting married. In the mean time, my sugars are way out of control. The pills and syringes do not kill me, but the Lantus at over $100 a month is absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone know of any good programs or anything to receive much lowered Lantus?

I was reading your article about the need for cheaper meds. I see someone beat me to the punch in suggesting Wal-Mart. What I like about their program is A) you can get some meds at a 30 day refill for $4.00 and a 90 day refill for $10.00. You need to go by the ir pharmacy. They have a poster up on one of their walls, or some of them have a hand out letting you know what meds are covered in this discount program.

The other part of your posting that caught my eye was in regards to the Metformin. What type of side effects or undesired results are you getting from this drug? I take 500mg each AM and the same at supper time along with 1/2 tab of Glimepiride at supper too. As of this writing I have been on these drugs for eleven months and I cannot tell that I have even taken anything. No side effects ,nothing.

If I had anything bad to say about the Metformin it would be that I don't believe it does the best job of controlling the sugar levels or lowering them.

I wish you the best of luck in finding something more reasonably priced, and A GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MARRIAGE. I hope you will both be very happy. I am working on #38 this year.
