Glucose tablets can be a diabetics best friend. When used properly, they can keep you from eating too much when you go too low, can tide you over until you get to a place where you can test or eat. They are cheap, come in a variety of flavors and amounts. They can be taken anywhere. Every diabetic should try them. They can give you more flexibility in dealing with low BS.

the best glucose tablets i get are from walgreens, the tropical fruit flavored ones.
i am glad i am taking them because when i wud take something else for my lows i would over eat and then sky rocket to very high levels

Mine go with me everywhere I go. I don't suffer lows, but I still keep them. The other day I was in a grocery store and my check out lady was having some issues with a delayed lunch. I offered her some tabs. She said she had already done some candy and thought she would be okay...but you never know if you will need them for you or someone else.

When I was on insulin and had the occasional low I carried them around with me. My biggest issue was that I liked them. They taste like giant Smarties candy. There were several occasions I found myself just wanting to eat one not because I was low but because I wanted one. My favorite was the grape flavor.

Dex 4 makes a GREAT low BG tablet and drink shot. I've only had about 2-3 lows in over 2 years on my pump BUT I NEVER leave home without some in my diabetes care case. It goes everywhere with me and I store some in my emergency/sick kit I created. I do agree though, no matter what, controlled our not, everyone should always keep a little something with them like this.
