Welcome to the board and for introducing yourself to us. I can only tell you what I believe has worked for me in dropping 23 pounds since January, which was before my diagnosis (March). I joined the YMCA in January and started out with the treadmill and a fitness group class on Tuesday nights. I think it helped with the motivation for other healthier changes that followed. When I was diagnosed (no previous concerns or family history) it was shock but I began to test alot and read alot. The results were making sure that I eat something for breakfast every day for boosting the metabolism, drinking more water, reducing carb and calorie intake, giving up sugar in my pop and coffee, and surfing the web for support groups like this one. It's great to have others to communicate with that understand what we are going through so please sit back and relax so we can share and learn from each other. I don't think any of us have the exact answers for how you can lose weight but it's usually based on burning more calories than you take in, watching what you eat and not being afraid to make swaps of this for that, and just learning (in time) what works and what doesn't work for you in terms of lowering your weight, cholesterol and glucose readings. Hang in there!!! You're in the company of others who genuinely care.
