Hello everyone! I am new to this community. I am looking for support and positive and meaningful feedback about my diabetes. I have been living with it since I was 12. On and off for the last 5 years I have been on a burnout from the daily testing and shots. It's not that I don't want to take care of my self. I get overwhelmed sometimes and ugh! Anyone ever get that way?

you're not alone. everyone feels overwelmed some time during our lives. It is always with you, but we all find ways to counteract the response. DC is one place to find a few suggestions to help. If you want or need to talk holler out. I will try to be hear with an ear and shoulder for talking or crying.

Yes absolutely, and I have only had type 1 for 5 months. Sometimes I think why should I do this, but then I remember my family and loved ones. I test only 4 times a day and only two long lasting insulin shots, until my honeymoon phase is over. And even those two shots a day get overwhelming just having to do them daily. But just remember no matter how overwhelming it is you are not alone and life is worth the time. Good Luck and I hope everything works out for you. Ever need to chat or vent just message me.

Hi, yea I get that way and have for the past 30 years. I was diagonse with type one at an early age. I am now married and think about my wife and kids so just take it a day at a time and it will be ok.

Hello Anna, welcome aboard! With good control we can have long, healthy lives. I was diagnosed in 1945, when I was 6. After 64 years of Type 1 I am very healthy.

It is impossible to have good control every day, or even every week. Our bodies do not always respond to the same stimuli in the same way every day, no matter how hard we try. I had many highs recently while on a two week vacation. My schedule was so different and it is difficult for me to adjust to changes. It did not upset me because I knew that would not hurt me in the long run.

It is a lot of work and it requires much patience to keep good control, but with that control comes better health and much less likelihood of those terrible diabetes complications that we have read about.

Good luck in the months ahead!

Hi Anna 12:
It appears that you joined about a week after I did. I am always looking for friends to share my experiences, my ups & downs and diabetes in general. I would consider it an honor to have you join my friends list if you would like to. I don't just write you a welcome to the community then fade into the background. I try to write to my friends about every 10 days to 2 weeks.

If you would like to send me a brief bio, nothing too personal I will do the same when we talk again if our friendship works out. Be thinking of some things you would like to know about me and I will do my best to oblige. Looking forward to have a new friend to talk to.

Dear Anna12
I know how you feel. I have had Type 1 for 17 yrs and I am burned out to. My diabetes has total control of me and my 5 other health problems. I wish often that I could just have one day week that I wouldn't have to deal with diabetes. I can't do anything including talking on the phone without being reminded I have diabetes. I knew to this site also and would love to talk to you. twiddlebug75

You certainly came to the right place to find encouragement, and great friends! We all experience burn out I think, but a daily dose of DC is just what "the doctor ordered" for support. Everyone agree?

Ur so Not alone! Day In A Day Out its like the elephant in the room! Its normal to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, exhausted with the policy and procedure but at the end of the day this is the hand we were all dealt and together we can play a great game! be encouraged!

Welcome Anna
I think the things you are seeking are the reason we are here. This community is great and I have learned so much, found such great friends and feel a genuine care within the membership that it astounds me sometimes.

I am not a type 1 and I have not endured what you have for so long, but even I get that overwhelmed feeling. I posted a discussion called "Don't test, Don't tell" and I was amazed at the resolve of so many, because there are days for me, when I don't have it. I don't stay there long, it gets too creepy. But I get there too.

Welcome and you have come to a very supportive place that will give you good advice. We all feel what you are feeling from time to time. We can never take a vacation from diabetes and that does not seem fair. It is incredibly hard to stay on track 24/7 365 days of the year. We will help you in any way!

Yes, we all do at some point in time.
Diabetes is a very demanding disease, it request ALL of your resources and attention, and when it doesn't get it, it makes your life, both emotionally and physically, draining and miserable.

Take control and manage your diabetes, give it ALL the attention that it deserves !
