This is good to hear. I guess I will keep my Metformin then. It doesn't do much for my sugar levels, but maybe it is working in other ways for me.

Here is some very good information on Statins. Note that you should not just stop taking them without consulting your doctor. Statins have a number of "other benefits" beside what is typically thought of, so you'll be enlightened by this article, I believe. Because of effects on your liver and muscles, your doctor should be doing regular bloodwork when doing your 3-mos. A1c to be sure there are no adverse effects taking place. Again, before starting or stopping any medications - prescription or OTC - you really need to discuss with the doctor.

Emma… thanks for the post! I recently received and filled a prescription for a statin medication from my doctor. I was leary about starting on it because of a previously bad experience with a med called Baycol which was recalled for side effects and not wanting to take anything like it. I am going to discuss my concerns with my physician before I take it. The article you pointed to mentions metaformin and while I have wanted to avoid diabetes medication as long as possible, I am thinking metaformin may help reduce my cholesterol and bg levels in one swoop. Maybe that's not such a bad thing? I can get either med for around $4 a month. It's something to think and ask about.

Metformin has been described as the diabetic anti death pill because it helps with so much and all studies show that diabetic who take it reduce their chance of death from all reasons. It's also one of the fee drugs listed on the world health organizations essential drugs list.

Hello there Emma! I actually had warning signs of a serious side effect from a "statin" drug. My son has an allergy to another use of "statin" besides cholesterol and Trigyl meds. I quickly stopped taking it and was placed on 4,000 mg of Fish Oil/Omega 3&6 each day. It is working really good for me doing it the natural way than all the medication garbage that is out there. Thanks for the info.

Thank you so very much for this information! I'm gonna start taking Fish Oil and quit my satin and see if I feel better.
