I just had to put this out here. From my past experience everyone can get a free BG testing meter from almost any manufacturer of meters. I have never paid for any meter in my 30+ years of being diabetic. The reason they give the meters away for free is the companies all make their money on the test strips (we all know how high priced these are), not the meters.

So, remember don't pay for a meter. Contact the manufacturer and request a free one.

Yep, it is all a game. A very sad game. I do have to say at least you can pick a meter that is low maintenance. That is your only salvation.

Now that I have insurance I have a brand name meter because my insurance pays for my strips. However when I didn't have insurance it was much cheaper to buy the $9.00 ReliOn meter and the 100 test strips for $40.00 from Walmart instead of the free meter and $70.00+ strips of some name brand meter.

I went to the site and ordered one. I will let everyone know if it comes. I am currently using One Touch Ultra Mini so it would be nice to try another kind and what I would like to do, is test once on each brand, and see what the difference is. I am curious. Thanks!

One of the features that I love about the Bayer Contour Meter is No Coding is necessary for the strips.
