Hello there Jenny! I am a type 2 diabetic and manage my diabetes by a insulin pump. While waiting for my insulin pump, I was on the injections. I had the long acting insulin Lantus and than for my BG corrections and sliding scale I was on Novolin. You will never get off of the sliding scale unless they change the type of treatment you are on. What may change from time to time is the amount you use on the scale. The doctor may change it when he/she feels the need too. Our bodies are constantly changing to try to maintain and find balance. Best of wishes to you with your insulin injections.

You may never be done with it, it's a management technique. It's a basic way of using insulin, essentially inject a set amount based on your glucose.
