I have read so much about controlling carbs. Since my repeated attacks of Pancreatis last August and the removal of my Pancreas April 26th. of this year, I have lost 40 pounds..since I have no pancreas, I have to take Viokase (an enzyme to digest my food) every time I eat a meal or snack. The dietitian said I should eat at least 60gms of carbs with each meal. I am continuing to lose weight. I need to gain about 20 pounds as I was about 20 pounds over weight when I started to lose.

After I had my pancreas removed, it was processed to get the Islets out of it and transplanted them to my liver. If they take, they will produce the insulin I need (I hope). I will not know for a couple of more months.

Does anyone else have this problem or suggestions on how to gain weight without screwing up my blood sugar?

Wow! I had no idea about transplanting islet cells in the liver! I'm sorry, I don't have any advice about gaining weight for you ( somebody will, don't worry ), just keep us posted about the islet cells! Very, very interesting!
