The World Cup starts today. So, who is as excited for it as me and is going to be watching it?

Something else I found out by watching ..those fans have no rhyme or reason to the horn blowing. I am sure they are given instructions that go something like this: Offense=blow your horn…Defense=blow your horn…Injury=blow your horn…National Anthems = blow your horn …Halftime= blow your horn…Opposing team scores = blow your horn…Your team scores = blow your horn. Wave starting = blow your horn..Opposing team wins = blow your horn…Your team wins= blow your horn..Grabbing some snacks=blow your horn…and so on.

Apparently in South Africa they see them as the spirit and enjoyment of the game. I guess kind of like clapping, cheering, singing and whistling in other countries.

It's been an interesting tournament so far. Some shocking goalkeeping, some bad refereeing, some great play, "interesting" musical instruments and overall great energy. One of the best world cups I can remember. Where else are you going to get South Korea, North Korea, England, Germany, Japan, USA, Cameroon, Ghana, Chile, Honduras, Serbia and Algeria among others all playing in a country that was segregated until about 15 years ago, on the same levels as equals with no political agenda? It's quite a sport!

I agree with your points stated.
At least the world can come together for something, too bad it must end.

Good start. Mexico deserved a tie but it would have been nice to see South Africa win. Bit of a wonder goal from the hosts though, don't think you'll see too many better ones in the tournament.

I am totally excited, watching Mexico vs S.Africa right now. Soccer City looks amazing and the stadium sounds like an angry bee hive buzzing. Wish I could be there today.
