Hey, my Diabetic Connect friends. I was just wondering what you thought of the Recipe spotlight on the home page. Currently we're displaying the name of the recipe with the nutrition facts. Is that the best way to highlight a recipe in your mind? Or would you rather see the ingredients or something else to decide if you're interested in the recipe?

Just wondering.

You know what..I think this is actually the very first time I have ever been on the home page(other than the day I joined)!! My Bad..LOL It looks GREAT..but I will agree that the Recipes would benefit from a picture or at least some main just the title in many cases doesn't tell alot about the recipe itself..and when you click through to the recipe..ummmm,still no picture. I know some folks may not be able to add a photo of the dish, but some might and it would make it visually more appealing.I know looks aren't always an indication of something being Good or Bad,(applys to many facets of our lives huh?),but I myself like to see what the finished product should look like and then I can compare it to mess I often end up with..LOL Just my thoughts on the subject…Hugz,*DJ

Love the recipe section but needs to be revised. Some recipes on there are not even diabetic recipes. But most of all I have used many recipes given here by friends and they are actually great!!..

I don't mind the way it is set up now, but ingredients are important as well as the nutritional information. I too would like to see a picture of the recipe if possible.

Well I personally LOVE that section. And I truly appreciate Avera submitting so many there for us that are healty. So Thank You Avera! Now, maybe some other set up like Jocelyn said to go back and look to them, cuz like now I am out of my ink, dunno if I will have any until next week…so printing is not an option at the moment and I don't want to loose the recipes, though I know I could write, ulgh no ono wants to do that, lol
Yeah photos would be great someday, but there are coming from us, I just don't expext that really. So yes, love it, don't want to loose that area. Thank you@ Always, Sheila

Hi John,
Have to say I didn't even notice the spotlight sorry.. But I looked at it now and I think I'd rather see ingredients so you know what it actually is. Some of the recipes have names that don't really tell you that.

Also as long as we're talking recipes LOL Suggestion: Can we get a search on that page? Someone told me they had a recipe out there and I couldn't find it and thought "How nice would it be if I could search by the member that entered it".. Just a thought!

I agree a search would make it easier, if not by person submitted, but also key word, such as chicken etc.

Should have added this to the other reply.

There is an other important feature missing on the site and I remembered as I was looking at recipes. I screwed up on the first recipe I submitted. There needs to be a way to edit our entries and correct mistakes.

There is a recipe called Toma Grubb. When asked for a name I entered my own instead of the recipe name. Now you have a lunch salad named Toma Grubb.

Not being able to edit entries can be potentially embarrassing to new site members and not in the best interest of the site.

I think this is probably already one of those items on the list.

Is it possible to maintain an updated list of proposed site changes and those that have been implemented? If there already is one can you point me in the right direction?

Under the discussion board, look for the entry in the "Site Feedback" category called "Things on the site that are broken."

That's where most of the requests for changes can be found. And yes, the edit feature is on the top of most people's list :-)

Oh John, I think I know what he is talking about. Yes, you can edit the body of a topic, or recipe, but once you submit it and THEN catch an error, you can only edit the body, not the title. I know myself I spelled something wrong in a discussion topic headline and it cannot be edited once posted only the body of the post can.

Hi John,

As into the nutrition aspects of a recipe as i am, I am not sure even I would get excited and follow the link. Even the ingredients might not catch my attention. I am visual and it is usually a picture that gets my attention followed by a title and a short description. If an option was added to the recipe submission that allowed an up load of a picture I think you would have a real winner. I do like the concept a lot. At first I was looking for a spotlighted recipe then I realized I had to click on the tab. Maybe to take it a step further give the spotlighted recipe a box whit a picture and a short description with a follow link.
