Now, my personal opinion is that if a diabetic do strictly follow the right lifestyle & diet changes, then, these steps will also help in losing weight. Furthermore, if you see the ingredients inside this supplement Diab-x, you might notice some herbs, that you commonly can find at your local market and get the advantage (in other words, put them in your diet menu). I think this supplement work is for lazy persons who do not want to change their daily diet and lifestyle menu:)))

I believe the only way for a diabetic to lose weight (permanently and relatively easily) is the old Atkins diet. This is the only diet that has worked for me, and, for me, it's the easiest diet to follow. All other diets require that you exercise will power to eat less. Let's face it, will power only lasts so long…and my cholesterol is super low…152 last test. Atkins forces your body to burn fat for energy. Don't try to reduce fat or protein intake. Don't eat carbs. Simultaneously, your BG drops, your insulin requirements drop, all is good. Eat only fat, protein, and (by the way) most vegetables. You can even have wine, martinis, etc with dinner. I don't get it, why people don't give this a serious try. The tough part for most people, no carbs! The good news is, you're not ever hungry. Protein/fat sticks with you and dramatically reduces hunger.

Hang in there. Faith can be a large help in these situations. I'm trying to make some Lenten sacrifices as well as commitments that should hopefully steer me in the right direction.

My experience with weight-loss is that there's no shortcuts whatsoever. Supplements in the form of vitamins are the only thing that are good to take but monitoring your diet and eating less than you consume paired with exercise is the way to go.

To be honest, the best diet advice was from an owner of a store similar to GNC. The key was reduced amount and frequency of eating. The other, is exactly what is being said in several posts of what we eat, reduce carbs, mine was soda pop, and exercise. The short cut was the shortened time frame of losing weight. He said even the products in the store did not do what the suggestion does. BE CAREFUL about the "products" that "guarantee" lose of weight.

The outcome is once you stop the product, the weight comes back and then some. Being a diabetic, we have other issues to be concerned about.

I'll never use a product to "lose" weight. I know it's not a quick process so I'm not looking for a miracle here. Basically I'm looking for the best exercises…I've got a bike, and I don't mind walking and even some running (got a treadmill)

I still believe that eating right and exercising is the best way to lose weight. To me any other way is just a temporary fix… Can you walk some each day??

PetiePal 2013-02-07 08:30:50 -0600 Report

I'm planning on starting walking again, and getting running again. This time last year I was doing 5k of walking a session, and eventually it was interval running 2-3x a week. I didn't keep at it, but I need to be diligent about it.

It is a purchase supplement that says it "cures" diabetes. That is the first red flag to me. I am sure that it helps with levels, in it according to the sites that Kaiyle listed are good, but there is never a guarantee that it will work for everyone. It is also a lot of $$. $60 for a month supply plus shipping. It is your choice, it seems pretty safe, no accelerators in it like caffeine to cause heart issues. I have found similar products in the health food store for about half that price. All said, I really don't believe in a magic bullet approach. Things like this can help, but you still have to put in the sweat equity. Nothing pays off better than some good old fashioned hard work.

From what I can find out Diab-x is metformin.

jayabee52 2013-02-06 02:23:43 -0600 Report

It is most certainly not. the ingredients are calcium, chromium, and Potassium as the first 3 ingredients of an 8 ingredient list. (see Kaiyle"s link to Diab-x

Met is "Metformin Hydrochloride (HCl) Tablets, USP is an oral antihyperglycemic drug used in the management of type 2 diabetes. Metformin HCl, USP (N,N-dimethylimidodicarbonimidic diamide hydrochloride) is not chemically or pharmacologically related to any other classes of oral antihyperglycemic agents."

Has anyone had any replies on the Diab-x or any success? I've hit a plateau so I'd love to find something that will help me to drop the weight and also drop my sugar levels. Thanks!
