You should not tell an employer during an interview that you have diabetes. They should not be asking you about potential medical issues either. With that be said, it is both a blessing and a curse that the internet provides a lot of information about people. Being a woman and 50 yrs old you are very likely to being discriminated against in that sort of field anyway. I go through the same thing in the computer and biomedical engineering fields. I've recently found a company that I love. Maybe it's for you, maybe not but you can definately make some money. I don't want to seem like I am selling something on this website so if you email me I will let you know more.

I had the job before the curse (Diabetes). I just hate how people act when they find out, I don't feel diabetes is a death sentence when you know about it,you know what to watch for, what to do etc.. Yes I would like to know more, try to e-mail would not go through.

You may have recourse in the loss of your job. Here are some articles and discussions on your rights as a diabetic. It is illegal for them to fire you unless you diabetes directly affects your job.

They cannot discriminate against you. They need to know that you know your rights.

Why do you have to tell them you're diabetic? Do you have issues during the day that happen? If it were me, I wouldn't tell them.
