I would like to find a list of carbs in foods in order to lose quite a bit of weight, and also lower my blood pressue, while helping to control my blood sugar. I do miss fruit a great deal and think that once piece a day would not badly impact the diet. My diabestes is controlled with Metformin.

Welcome to the community Giacomo. I hope you are finding what you need here.

There are many good books that list carb counts of foods. The best book is one you create for yourself. I have a list of my favorite foods that I eat all the time. I get the nutrition information off the label and keep it handy. The ADA has an exchange booklet that gives you carb counts for unlabeled things that are generally eaten. You can get one for free from www.diabetes.org.

You want to keep a balanced diet and fruit should be part of it. Try to stay with whole fruit and avoid fruit juices. You can experiment with testing what fruits cause you issues and which ones don't. Like Emma said, berries tend to be the friendliest of fruits, followed by the firm fruits such as apples and pears. But you will need to find out for yourself what works for you.

As far as the book is concerned, I should think that here on this site you'll be able to find a book like that. I don't know that for a fact, but you could look.
About fruit, I have at least one piece of fruit daily — sometimes 1 1/2 or 2 — even oranges. I do find that I miss fruit very, very much and I figure we should be eating everything in moderation, anyway, unless it's a food that makes you spike. Anything like that — rice, for instance — that spikes me, I will leave out of my diet. But you should be able to eat berries — blueberries, strawberries — without too much trouble. Try it. What do you have to lose?

When you look at food think that if its white then its high carb. Except for turkey an chicken. other than that go for the wheat products an you will see less carbs, white means higher carbs. Then get out an walk around the block a couple of time a week.. It all helps …

The walk really, really helps me. That's for sure. Depending on how long a walk it is and how high a reading I have, it can lower it from 50 or more points. If you have a tendency to go low, then take something with you that you can pop in your mouth.
