Because everyone's tastes (and bodies) are different I don't think there is any one cookbook or menu plan/diet out there that will fit everyone's needs. A trip to your local library can surely help you assemble the right plan for your wants and needs. There are many diabetic cookbooks that will help you with carb counting and control. Most of the resources that I have read give a guideline of 35 grams of carbs per meal and 15 grams of carbs per snack. Your body may want or need more or less depending on your body size and gender. There is more to adequate nutrition than just carbs. Consider calories, fat, and protein as well. Portion control simply means to adjust food labels and recipes to pay close attention to serving size. If a label on fruit juice is recommended for an 8 ounce serving, the count will be altered with a 4 or 10 ounce glass. It is overwhelming when you first begin to diet and exercise your way to fitness but time will help you more than any book. In my world, I notice that alot of cookbooks have wonderful recipes… but not for me. You may or may not find the same to be true. The best book for you is the one that you write for yourself because it will have all of your favorite recipes, ingredients, and will work with your caloric and nutritional needs. Every body (and everybody) is different.
