Well, I got my first labs done after the initial ones for dx.

A1C went from 10.9 to 7! I still need to go lower but that was in just 2 months.

My Vitamin D went from a 9 to a 27. Nice increase. Doc wants it above 35.

My cholestrol is still high (LDL is 170) so doc added a med for that. So, that was a nice change. At least I am doing something right. :)

Great job! Congratulations! Keep on keeping on.
I refuse to take statin meds, though. My doctor is working with me on that and advised me to try Flushless Niacin, simply because taking regular niacin gives a person (men and women) hot flashes. But, you know, that's not a bad idea for a woman who wants to let her husband know how a hot flash feels! LOL

Yes you are and you should be thrilled. To see that kind of a drop in just two months is a testament to how diligent you are and how your treatments are working. Way to go.

I thought I was still doing pretty bad actually but doc said it was not the medication alone for that big of a drop. I was obviously working hard on diet, etc. I am happy because it means I wasn't doing as bad as I thought and I am on the right track. I still think I need less carbs than the nutritionist keeps stating but will see how it goes this next three months.

I am just 3 weeks into this and I test before and after each meal to see what foods spike me. Monday I went to the diabetes education and nutrition class, the nutritionist said that men should have 60 carbs per meal and I told her there was no way! I already knew by my tests that I could not handle that many carbs per meal. She admitted that the number is only an average and that you have to find your individual number to go by.

Yeah, my nutritionist wants me to have 45 carbs per meal, and 15 to 20 per snack. My numbers tend to be too high if I do that.

60 is a number for men more than the ladies, usually we get a 30-45 per meal limit. I too find that is too much
