I was diagnosed 3 months ago as diabetic - type 2 with a fasting glucose of 135. The dr suggested diet and exercise rather than throwing me on meds right away. Well, today, 3 months and 8 pounds later, my a1c is 6.4. He's quite happy. He is giving me a cholesterol med to try for 3 months when I will do another lab. He basically told me to keep doing what I'm doing and will see him in October until the August blood work sparks concern. I've been all worried about that a1c test but I guess a 6.4 isn't bad. I am still seeking more recipes and food ideas so keep 'em coming!!! My reading in his office was 91 after a 4 hour fast.

That's awesome, Ray! Good job!
My goal is to get my A1C even lower next time around. I'm constantly striving. I do have trouble with cholesterol, too, but refuse to go on a statin drug. I'm looking into other things. You know me, Ray. I'm a firm believer in doing it naturally, if at all possible.

If you are considering an alternative to a statin talk to your doctor about niacin. It can cause sugar rise, but you won't know unless you try. I also talked to my pharmacist and I am taking 250 extended release once a day. Plus my omegas.

That first A1c is always a big step and you are going in the right direction. Good job! A 91 is good too, man, I don't see those hardly ever. So keep it up and let us know how you are doing it. We all need tips for success.

Way to go Ray! Keep up the good work so you can continue to stay off the meds if possible.
