Sorry this post is so late. I just wanted you to know that I have Type 1, am a very brittle diabetic. Always have been. I had my first baby at the age of 21. It was a rough pregnancy and I was told that if I wanted to have any more children I needed to have them before I turned 30. (Supposedly, I would not be able to survive a pregnancy after that) I did have a second pregnancy at 23, in which I did not due very well. The drs. did not think I would survive the pregnancy let alone the baby survive. I lost the baby at about 3 months.) So I never anticipated every getting pregnant again. God had other plans for me and at 31 I gave birth to an absolutely beautiful baby boy. He is 13 now. The pregnancy was difficult, but actually easier than my first. I had a wonderful endocrinologist, whom I still see, and he worked very closely with my OB/GYN. So, I echo everyone else that advise to check with your doctors. Let them know you are wanting to have another baby, and they let you know if its advisable or not. Don't forget to pray to God. All children are Blessings from God, He will allow it if its supposed to be.

God Bless you and your family!

I don't think Type I would prevent you from having another baby, but then I'm not educated as to your particular situation either. Talk to your doctors (both primary and gynecologist) about it. But just let me say that you're lucky to have a child. I had other types of problems and couldn't have children — lost a baby when I was pregnant and then had to have a hysterectomy after that because of all the problems and pain I was having. It's not something that was easy to get over and sometimes I still feel down about it because I love children and wanted tons of them. After that I tried to talk my first husband into adotping, but no dice. I wish you all the good luck in this world and hope you and your baby stay as healthy as possible.

That would be something to talk to your doctor about. They know how you are doing with control and how you are doing physically. It would be a worth while sit down with them to see what the risks would be.
