I just want to share a website that I found tonight so it's a little too soon to give a glowing testimonial just yet. It's called My Plate D (d=diabetics). The site lets you keep a food and exercise journal with your food intake and calorie burning. It's a simple registration process. I'd sure like any feedback or testimonials on this site. If you care to share, I'm here to hear…

I am not sure if another reply to this will bump it up to the top for the newbies but this is a very impressive website with some excellent tools. Hope it helps!

I agree. It is a great site. I discovered it after I was diagnosed with Type 2 and have been tracking my meals, exercise and BS regularly for the past 30 days. It really helps you focus on what is important. When I saw my dietitian after I got diagnosed and told her that I would like to control my situation without pills and by reducing weight and exercise, she would allow that only if I kept a strict log of what I ate and the BS levels. This is the one site that would let me do all that. I also noticed it also has the option of entering insulin levels too. Hopefully I will never need to use that option. There is also a meals section where you can group your commonly eaten items and also there is a recipe section that you can use to add the ingredients and it comes up with a customized nutrition label. This really helped me a lot since I can now track even my home made recipes as long as I take time to enter it in the site once correctly. The other option I liked is that once you set up you initial stats like weight age etc it also allows you to choose your weight loss goal and calculates the total number of calories that must be consumed to reach that goal and keeps a running tab of the calories consumed on a daily basis. It has helped me lot in managing my diabetes. When I started first I was 200lbs and my fasting BS was 150 but after a month of dieting and exercise I am down to 180 lbs and BS of 110 (fasting) and 125 (after food). I am not saying the site did all the work but for me being a numbers kind of guy, it kept me on track to healthy eating and exercise schedule. Oh, one other thing I really like is that I can print the food log in a very detailed format along with my blood sugar log or export it to Excel and generate good looking trend graphs to take to my doctor and dietitian. If my Bayer USB meter and this site worked together to upload my BS data directly, it would be awesome. Overall I really love that site.

No need to thank me, my dear robotic friend. :) I've learned so much from you also. I think that's the coolest thing about this website is being able to share with others. One day we are learning things and the next day we are teaching. If you promise to keep on posting your informational, educational and motivational articles… I promise that I will do the same.

I used to do that with, but got out of it. Well, I'll be honest, I got lazy. =(

This sounds good because it is the first one I have seen that is focused on diabetic's needs. Thank you so much. I will take a peek. I know when I was doing the livestrong one, I was being much more careful about what I was doing. I know this will help as well. Thanks

OOPS! now that I went to see it, it is Livestrong!! How cool that they have one just for us now! Thanks Ray!

While I believe the site has alot of set up to it, after your favorites are in there it's quite easy to simply select them. The site also allows you to get the nutritional information for your favorite recipes. You can even figure out how many calories you burn from many activities. How many rooms must I vacuum to justify having a Klondike bar???

Yep, it does that indeed. When I reopened my old account it still has a lot of my menu recipes in it, so I have a lot of the hard work done. I used it yesterday and today. Good to be back on track.

sounds like a GREAT web site and I will have to take a look at this. I am actually looking to do the Biggest Loser thing with a spin off of the Special K diet. Thanks for the web site info. I am always looking for new web sites to try and see. I am always up to seeking new things. Would that be the web site? Good luck to you!

Both "My Plate" and "My Plate D" are part of the arena. The "D" for diabetes.

I just signed up and I am going to give it a whirl. I am actually looking at working with Jillian Michaels as another means of guiding me. I am in the exploring and getting my mojo ready to run with it.
