Hello there! You can use a generic meter & strips. I don't know where you live. Yet, see if there is a health clinic for people who are low in income. The other option could be to go through a manufacture that deals with glucose meters and see if they have any special programs for people in situations like this. I hope this helps you out and I wish you luck. :)

Hey Anon, I have come across a few meters that have cheap test strip, running about $30 - 45 for 50strips and that is Reli-On and off brands, like our grocery/pharmacy here is Krogers and they have Kroger brand meters and strips. The meters are cheap too - you shouldn't have have to spend over $50 for both.
Their are places that offer free or very cheap meters, like One touch and Free Style, however the strips are double the price if not more.
Hope your boyfriend and brother find something that works for them!
