Thanks for all of the input regarding the diet sodas. I have another question concerning that subject. Does anyone know how long it takes (approximately) to start feeling better after you have stopped drinking anything with aspartame?

Thanks! Sheryl

I was drinking a lot of it, so for me in about two weeks I really began to notice that I felt so much better. I may have been more sensitive to it than some people, but I was amazed. I had no idea I felt that bad until I stopped.

Can I ask, what sort of symptoms were you having before you quit? Thanks for your info!

I was getting headaches and an overall ache. Not a joint ache, but body ache. Just before I quit I also felt kind of a pain in my intestines. Not a bad pain, but more of a discomfort. It is kind of hard to explain, but it is that feeling that you know something is wrong, but you don't know what. I was drinking a lot of flavored waters at that time and I don't know if it was the brand or just that I was consuming so much. When I quit, all of that went away. I mean I still get an occasional head ache, but not like I was having them all the time before.
I realize that this is all anecdotal , but I noticed enough of a difference to be convinced that it was the right move. It was enough for me to stop consuming it. I don't even chew gum anymore because even many full sugar gum has artificial sweeteners in them for added sweetness. good grief! LOL

my mom won't let me drink coke zero/diet coke anymore because it has that aspartame in it and it's suppose to be really bad for you, it's in crystal light too.

It is in nearly every sugar free item (sucrulose or Splenda is also bad) It is also in some regular foods, so you do have to be very careful if you pick up anything that is diet, lite, or sugar free. Read the ingredients. You may just put it back on the shelf and settle for an apple.

My Dr. told me to give my body 30 days when eliminating
any item from my food plan for it to really make a difference
in how I feel. He also said make one change at a time.
