My Nightmares - Flex Spend Account

So I don't really wake up in sweats yet but I fear that I am about to if I get one more substantiation request from my flexible spending account provider. Flex spend, through my employer, allows me to use a pre-set tax free amount for co-pays, medications, etc. Now with drug stores it's not a problem. With the online pharmacy, it's an issue with every purchase. The doctors give a credit card receipt but that's not enough. I have to get an itemized bill or my insurance statement of benefits to send them. Am I the *only* person with these nightmares? Does anyone have tips or even worse horror stories to share???

UPDATE… I am so glad to have finally received approvals on the last batch of unsubstantiated claims. It took a month and a recent 18 page fax with just about everything that I could send them. I'm all caught up now… til the next appointment. Thanks to all for letting me vent. :)

We had the same problem with one of the company administers we had. Luckily our HR got rid of them and the new company is much better.

Yep they did that to me too till I started to bill them for Shipping and handling lol $15.00 a shot they never payed but they did stop giving greef over every

That's standard practice. Because a flex account is tax free it comes under federal tax law so the company administering it has to comply with federal law and verify that you are using it for approved items. The easiest way round it is to send in the reimbursement request yourself and include the sales order, the sales.receipt and your credit card receipt. You should be able to do it via mail, fax or email/online.
