I'm having trouble affording my insulin. I've been off work for over a year. I'm on medicaid but my spend-down a month is over $400. I get labs done every 4 months but that leaves me 8 months when I have trouble with insulin costs. I have no other insurance. My husband isn't even offered insurance at his job. My dr gives me samples when he can but the economy dries that up sometimes. Any help out there?

I have that same problem, but am denied medicaid. My NP also gives me free samples when she can, which is awesome, but like you said, the economy dries that up sometimes. I have actually been without my long lasting insulin for several days now, but my NP gave me applications (same on Mays showed you), and she said it bases it on your income and I should get them alot cheaper :) I'm looking forward to that!

Print those out or you can ask your doctor about them so you can both fill them out in the office and he can send them out for you. Good luck!

The thing about many of the assistance programs is that you have to be uninsured, which means no medicaid either. So you might want to approach the pharmaceutical company that makes your insulin directly and explain your hardship and see if they can help you.
