Hi my name is Charlotte, and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on April 28th. It was very hard for me to accept, because both parents had it and my brother found out 6 years ago he had diabetes. Both of parents passed due to complications from diabetes. My mother used insulin, but the rest of us are just on oral medication. I am hoping that I will find friends here who can understand why I joined, because I need advice on this subject even though I had parents and have a brother who is affected by this disease and how we can find a cure for it if there is any.

Hi MizzCeeJaye,
Welcome to the community. I know you will make a lot of great friends here that will help you through all the questions you have. My family is kind of like yours. I too was the last of my family to be diagnosed with type 2. My brother was the youngest and my mom the oldest to be diagnosed. My dad was the first. Somehow though, having it in the family doesn't make it easier to deal with. You will find a lot of support here, I sure did.

Welcome to DC. You are in the right place. This site has great people willing to share and a good deal of information
to offer. I am a type 2, and have been for 25 years. Look
around, check out the videos and discussions, check out recipes and books. Ask any and all questions and we will
respond from out personal experiences. I have made many friends here. I am sure you will too.

Hi & Welcome.
You have come to the right place for help in learning about diabetis. Ask and someone will take the time to talk with you. I have be type 2 for 15 months. I come to this site everyday morning and evening and I have learned so much. When I was diagnosed type 2 all my doctor did was give me a testing kit and that was it. So what I have learned I learned here.
good luck on your new life.
