Seems the problem these days is trying to get rid of 40 lbs. I'm in my seventys and trying to control my diabetes with diet and am not doing a very good job. It's even effecting my teeth. Sugar really gets my gums to flair up. No problem with getting a lot of good green veggies but sure would like a treat once in a while. What about those diet free deserts? Has anyone tried those?

How about rice cakes? For me, it is a good substitute for popcorn and you can get them flavored.

Do the rice cakes spike your levels? Man, they do mine. I can't touch those things...I can't touch pop corn either, so sad. =(

I try to avoid the sugar free stuff, but I have to say that the Yoplait delights are quite yummy.

I try to make my own treats, as then I get to use stevia instead of the artificial sweeteners. There is a great recipe for cheesecake here that I have tried. http://www.diabeticconnect.com/recipes/1892-baked-low-carb-cheesecake I sprinkle a little fresh ground cinnamon on top and serve with fruit compote or fresh berries. If that is not to your liking, check out the recipe section. The deserts abound.
