morbid obese and exercise

I am morbidly obese…and have started eating right and have started taking vitamins and cut out alot of bad habits like diet soda and sodium.BUT…I can barely walk and I want and NEED to exercise I want to loose weight desparelty! any suggestions?

i started walking.. only outside to my mailbox and back.. even if i didn't need to check the mail.. it was about 25 steps each way so only 50 steps… i kept doing that for a few weeks and slowly and gradually increased my distance.. the main thing is to just get started and then just go from there…and do it at your own pace.. don't worry that its only 50 steps.. its 50 more than you did yesterday right? And imagine if you did 50 steps 5 days per week 250 steps! .. give yourself the weekends off you deserve it :)) Good luck!! Just one day (a few steps) at a time. *hugs*

You might want to check with your local educational TV
station. In my area in Wis. there is a show called Sit And Be
Fit. They sell the dvd's for the programs so you can use them at
home. Its simple exercise that helps build muscle. After that
you Can move on to other exercises. Among other exercises
they teach the proper use of stretch bands. Most of the exercises can be done seated, others you use the chair for balance. The videos helped me after an accident which keep
me in bed in the hospital for over 3 months. Good luck.

Water exercise is a great way to get motion without pain. Your weight actually works for you that way.
There are also many videos out there that have seated exercise with balls and bands. That may be a good place to star.
You may also need to ask your doctor what he/she recommends. They may have some therapy venues that can get you started safely and give you the confidence to do more.

yeah i love the water. but.. where i live the clostest pool is 45+ miles away. i have a band to use just need to find out how

I know there are DVD's out there. If you check on Amazon.com, I am sure they would have some information you could use. I found a great DVD at Barnes and Nobel on Ti Chi which is slow motion moves of balance. That might be good as well.
