I have been wondering what makes people feel good. For me, the name I chose for this site, Joni, is one that only my closest friends use. It makes me feel special.

Also, a warm bath with bubbles and candles.

How about you? Food is not allowed. LOL

This is a cool thread. :) Books make me happy. Sitting in a cafe with a fried, just talking. Taking myself "out on the town." New clothes. Shopping. Good tv shows. Talking to my good friend online or on the phone. Funny stuff my dad says. My animals. Anyone else's animals. So many things!

Books are so wonderful. You can be and do anything you want. You can be Samson or climb in the Himilayas…There is no limit to your imagination. I am so glad you like this.

There is a discussion about our Diabetes Diagnosis Date. Well, this girl said that she was diagnosed with diabetes. She drinks 4 Cokes a day. It was a real wakeup call. I don't know if she meant it to be funny, but it sure is. Think about it! Wakeup call, coke, caffeine?!! LOL

For me it would be my favorite hobby and pain reliever READING especially the paranormal romance books. It doesn't even have to be a romance as long as it has my fave shapeshifters. I love magic, fantasy, witches, warlocks, talking horses, erotica and anything else that ignites my imagination and sucks me into the book as if I am the heroine and living out that adventure or whatever.

I love fantasy. That is why I enjoy the Facebook games. There is no limit to your imagination. I talk to people as if it is real and when they find out what I am talking about, they get a good laugh out of it.

I go to the nursing home where my husband works to visit some of the residents and their joy in having a visitor makes me happy. It makes me thankful that I can still do things and go places on my own.

I do volunteer work with alzheimer residents and any way they respond will put a smile on my face for the next week, until I see them again. We were doing Scattergories today and I was using the letter D and asked for a woman's name. They came up with Daisy and they all started singing Daisy, Daisy give me your answer true… So, I sang with them. My visits are as much fun for me as it is for them. One resident came up to me and told me how she liked my smile because it makes her laugh! Wow! What an ego boost, and she remembered me from last week!

I found a card that my mother-in-law had given me. It is so special. You know why? She was blind and she would go to a card store and have someone who worked there read her cards until she found just the right one. Is that precious or what?!!

I put a smile on my doctor's face this morning. I told him God had healed me. I am not sure he knew what to do with that but wanted to hear all about it. So, I told him that I told God that I wanted my life back. I had been so discouraged because I was feeling that it was going nowhere and I had no purpose. He asked what brought about this sudden change because he wanted to use it for other patients. I didn't have a real definite answer. But, I have been prayed over, annointed with oil, etc. None of that worked. I just had to say real firmly and with all of my heart that I would NOT accept my life as it was. Anyway, he was happy about all the meds I dropped. He also went through a list of symptoms that I had had. "Shoulder pain" I said "gone!" "Knee pain" "Gone!" "Hip pain" "gone!" "Fibromyalgia" "Gone!" He was so pleased. He still wants to see me in a month, but I know that this healing is permanent. Praise God!

When I came back from my doctor's office, I found "helicopters" on the ground, all over. We used to call them that as children. Anyway, when you toss them up in the air they come down spinning like a helicopter propeller. What fun!

If I am getting on your nerves, please just say, "Shut up, Joan!" My neighbor does it all the time. That is how I know she is having fun!

I think that although we seldom ever talk in real life the games have brought my brother a little closer. I think that the whole idea of "gift-giving" has a lot to do with it. The very idea that someone would take the time, even if it is only a second, to send you something is just so meaningful. On my birthday, he introduced me to Petville. I love that game. It is so sweet. What a wonderful gift!

I just realized that I have an appointment with my rheumatologist today. I am excited! I want to know how he explains the fact that I have NO pain anymore!

This morning I woke up and checked on my inbox and found that I won 3 Petcash on Petville in a lotto. Petcash is real hard to come buy and helps you buy premium items. It truly does not take much to make me happy.

I still hate mornings but I am having a good one this morning.

What makes me feel good? Relationships. Even though I tend to be kind of shy, making strong life long friendships is something that will mark my years. People from all kinds of back grounds with all kinds of beliefs and will all kinds of life experiences. I love to talk to them, hear their stories and even share a few of mine. No matter how long someone is in my life, I can grow and learn from them. When they are gone, I may only have memories, but they make me feel good.

joni55 2010-04-21 15:51:26 -0500 Report

Absolutely. Whenever I sit and look at pictures of vacations with my husband, I sit and purr!

A friend of mine sends me a lot of things she finds on youtube and some other places. One came today that I thought had a good message. I wish I knew how to post it here. The background picture is really good. Anyway, it said, "Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts." - martin buxbaum.

It also said this, "God determines who walks into your life…it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay and who you refuse to let go." I personally refuse to let you guys go!

I just got a new puppy. It follows me all over. Now, I have 2. It is on Farmville but hey, it works for me. LOL Sometimes, when reality is a bummer, something that stimulates our imagination is great. You can have everything that you ever wanted and thought you could never have on a game. Sometimes, it almost seems real. (And, no you do not have to worry about me! LOL)

Being ME !

Knowing that I am comfortable with being myself which is an extension of my parents, siblings, mentors and many others that I have met and associated with up to this point in my life, knowing who I am, allows me to be who I am without shame or disrespect.

To ALL of those who have influenced me, adding to my character, integrity and eventual legacy, a part of you, lives on in me, hopefully I can pass this positiveness onto my sons, and that makes me feel good, knowing that I can preserve, add to and pass on to others a little more than I have received morally in my life.

Helping others always makes me feel good. I so enjoy lending a helping hand when I can. Church also makes me feel refreshed and renewed to face another week. Coming here makes me feel really good. I love sharing with others that are facing some of the same medical problems I have. Yea, this site really ranks high on my "feel good" list.

It is for me too. I am finding this much better than the computer games. I wake up in the morning and can't wait to get on the computer and see what someone has to say. It always makes me smile if someone just says hello. It really doesn't take much to amuse me.

My three babies, my cats, Tiger, Mimi and Josie. Allowing myself to have fun like play Wow online(took 26 years). Laughing at all the years i spent catering to other people and now I can truely enjoy solitude. I am smiling as I can stay up as late as I want, don't have to cook if I don't want to, and if I don't want to go I just say no. This is what makes me feel real good! :)

Being useful to others is what makes me happy. One of the reasons I enjoy being with Jem is because because I make a difference in her life. And, of course she makes a difference to my life just by being in it and loving me.

Another thing that makes me feel good is dancing: Swing, Square Dance, Contra Dance, English country dance, 2 step, Polka, Schotisshe, Waltz, Meringue — I love to dance with a partner. Especially when I know what I'm doing and make us look good as a couple on the dance floor.

I think it is all in having the right partner. The same with roller skating, one of my passions. I used to skate with this one woman's husband because she wouldn't. And, there was nothing there, we just had fun together and I was friends with his wife. He and I were a perfect match and worked well together. I am so glad you have Jem.

Nothing makes me happier than to see someone else smile and laugh. I am one of those people who will say hi and talk to anyone. Sometimes, my neighbor will ask me who it was I was talking to and I will just say, "I don't know" and she will look at me. It comes naturally. My mom and I have always done it and I like to think it makes people feel good. Sometimes, I will ask someone a question, just to see them smile. I do volunteer work with Alzheimer's patients and nothing makes me happier than to see someone respond, even if it is something that wasn't what we were doing. This one woman is so cute. I will be talking about something and all of a sudden she will start singing a song.

I bet that you are just a big Ole teddy bear, arnt ya! My hubs is like that as well. He does whatever he can to make me smile and these days has been very hard for me. I am getting better thou and have to take it one day at a time. I love men like you that think of others instead of themselves. Kuddos to you my dear!

joni55 2010-04-22 14:09:58 -0500 Report

Amen to that. I used to call my husband Bear! He reminded me of a teddy bear.

I hope being here can put a smile on your face too. Love you!
