Wow, that is a loaded question. There are so many schools of thought out there.

The first line of attack is your diet and exercise. Both work together to decrease the glucose in your blood stream (diet) and increase the receptiveness of the glucose into your muscles (exercise) That is why they are often paired, as the one needs the other. You want to talk to your doctor and see what they recommend as a goal for both of these parts. You don't want to hurt yourself and then end up not being able to do either well.

There are many camps on natural aids as well. Supplements and herbs are often mixed with medical science. There are many many options with supplements and I would advise you talk to your doctor before just adding them, as there can be some unintended reactions if you are already on meds. Here are some links that has some discussions on natural treatments.

Just because it is natural, doesn't mean it is safe, so do your research and always take notes of how you feel and what your numbers are doing when you add something like this to the mix.

The best defense is a positive attitude and a lot of experimenting. Take good notes and you will find what works for you is not the same thing that will work for me. Too, bad. Because then we all could do the same thing and be great! LOL
