I have found everyone is different in what affects their sugar, some pasta, some potatoes, breads, white flower, corn, beans, sure spoils good food!

Yep, it does kind of put a damper on the summer picnics full of potato salad, corn on the cob and baked beans...BUT with a little creativity, you can make foods to replace some of the ones you love.
Like I make mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. YUM
I serve roasted veggies mashed into a dip with celery instead of chips or crackers.
I make my baked beans savory instead of sweet.
Instead of a pasta salad I might make a bulgar pilaf.

There are a lot of options out there. It does take some adjusting and sometimes just a hard core mind set. One thing is for sure. I have discovered a whole LOT of other things I can eat that I never knew I liked until I tried them. There are a lot of great recipes in our "Recipes" section. Try some out. You might be surprised at how UNspoiled your fun can be.

Welcome to the site,
Yes, most of the foods you listed are carbohydrates and that is the first thing you have to count as a diabetic. Most packages list how many carbs are in a serving.
And yes some carbs affect people differently so you will need to test two hours after a meal to see how it is affecting you.
Keep checking around on this site, i am sure you will find more answers.
Good luck
