My supply company says that my insurance company will only cover 100 test strips for a month. I want to test more often. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get more, aside from buying them, which is not an option as I am on a fixed income, very fixed, thanks to the government — no increases this year and next.

You didn't indicate if you are any diabetes meds… or most importantly if you are oral only or insulin.

The new idea is that if you are not on insulin then you don't really need to test often if at all so they won't pay for more than a certain amount.

If however you are on insulin your doctor can get you more with a little more effort and calling the insurance company and explaining why you need to test more often.

You can always write to the manufacturer of your meter and request some, they may give them to you freely, or they may have some sort of a program that can help you.
It never hurts to ask !
