As most of you know that I have been a type 2 for at least 16 years and I have been on metformin for all of that time. The doctors they never tell us the side affects. The most of find out on our won when its to late. A few month ago the doctor told me that I had Fibromyalgia with is very painful sickness I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Well to day I was reading some of the papers of the med that I take with is metformin and it cause bone pain. Now what I would like to know did I get the fibero from the metformin or from something eless. The doctors always gives us meds for one thing but we end up with an other.

i do not have diabetes but have insulin resistance. i cam upon this website hoping to find exactly what you are talking about. a friend told me that metformin caused her gastric distress, and come to think of it, that is when most of my distress started. then i start up with fibromyalgia a few years back…got to thinking, what meds may i have started in that time frame? metformin. so i was totally wondering the same thing. did come agross an article…http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/glucophage-... now i am thinking trial and error?

I've not heard of metformin being linked to fibromyalgia. I have heard that most people with it are women.

Hello Sissio,
I have type 2 diabeties also, I'ev been taking metformin for 7 year and I have not experinced any side affects. Now I am on Actos/Metformin combo and still working fine. I think the meds affect everyone differently, how ever when I started taking Byetta that made me sick…

Hello sisson, i have been type 2 for a year. My doctor started me on metformin 500 mg twice a day. A month later my Diabetic nurse change my dose to 1000 mg 2 times a day. The side affects was truly awful. I was sick every day with stomach problems. my doctor took me off of metformin and gave me medicine for the stomach problem. In feb this year i started taking Insulin becaude of the high blood sugar. when I went to the doctor I was told that i had Fibromyalgia. I was shock because i also have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was wondering why I had so much pain. I don't know how I got this Fibromyalgia. When I have flare ups from my RA I get sleeping and have a low grade fever which I have now. having fibromyalgia and RA together is very painful for me. You are right the Doctors are always pusing meds at you. I always read up on my meds before I start taking them to see what the side affects are going to be. I am sorry that you are in a lot of pain i can really sympathize with you.

I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I started with the fibromyalgia in college. It hurt to even climb the stairs. My doctor had me on high doses of aspirin. I thought my head would explode. Now, I use Lyrica and it seems to help. It still hurts when I get a hug, but I wouldn't pass it up for the world!

You are smart checking out meds before you take them.

Prayer also helps. God can and does heal. I know He has done a miracle in reducing my pain. I don't have any where near the pain I used to have.

Becareful with the Lyrica because it and a few other med help put 50pd on me. Along with drepression and swalling arms so be careful it took two years to put it on.

I have had fibromyalgia for years and I wasn't on Metformin until a few years ago. Fibromyalgia is muscle pain. It can be helped with Lyrica. That is what I use. When I was first diagnosed with this, they told me that exercise would help.

since i RA along with Fibromyalgia I don't take meds for it. I take meds for my RA with includes Humira injection twice a month. I was told to try and do some water excercise to helo with the muscle pain.

I did do that for awhile and it was great, but then my insurance ran out for physical therapy, so I can't do it. I do miss it.
