This is my first full day on the insulin pump! I went to pump school yesterday and learned how to insert the tube and how to give myself bolus insulin with it. I have the latest model from medtronic and so far I really like it! It frees me up to other things while it gives me a bolus AND it figures it out for me! No complicated math. Suzie, you know me and math! The one touch meter that comes with it sends your glucose readings right to the pump and the pump tells you what it needs to do. You give it the okay to go ahead and it does it! The model is called the Revel and I guess you can tell I really like it.

I just received my revel pump on Monday and I am waiting for the trainer to get in touch with me . I was on Medtronic paradigm pump in the past but stopped using it because no matter where my basil or bolus se rings where I would be pasting out every other day. After breaking my nose( twice) falling through a sheet of glass and too many concussions I had enough. With this new pump it will stop delivering insulin when blood sugars reach a certain level.I have been a Diabetic for 40 years and I do not have any complications from Diabetes. Has anyone who started using the Medtronics Elite pump with continous glucose monitor found that this pump has help then experience less hypoglycemic events? Right now I am taking Novalog and Levemir shots.

Excellent isn't it !

As close to your pancreas and your body's natural function as possible, it's great, less headaches and time to concentrate on other things with the elimination of so many steps, enjoy your new life !
