Hey everyone hope this is alright to post here if not i am sorry i did not know. My best friend is blind and he depends on Jaws for his work and to navigate online. Especially with diabetes we could experience becoming blind so it is imporant that we know this information. I have been having vision problems if i go blind i can not afford $1500 at one time for the jaws software. If you can take the time to look over this and if you agree then please sign the petition it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone.

hello everyone. as many of us know, the jaws for windows screen-reading software product, made by freedom scientific inc., is one of the most popular programs among blind and visually impaired people. unfortunately, it is also one of the most expensive. many of us simply do not have the necessary financial income to purchase such a costly software. therefore, a petition has been written to encourage the company to change their policy, allowing the jaws software to become more affordable, by making it lease-to-own. if this petition is accepted by FS, many of us will be able to purchase jaws by paying periodically in smaller amounts, instead of the one giant amount at once. this will be very convenient, and many more people will be encouraged to buy the product. if you agree that this is indeed what freedom scientific should do, please sign the petition by following the link below, and clicking on the sign petition button. i'm sure many of us will greatly appreciate it. thank you all for your cooperation and your time.

I signed the petition. I am one of the lucky people. I had eye surgery for
reintopathy several years ago. It was successful. I had Vision problems
from birth. I hope this company changes their policy. We need for all
people to have access to programs such as they offer.

Thank you sooo much for signing. I'm sooo happy that you are one of the lucky people. It's good to hear stories where everything has turned out well. I really hope it does change it's policy as well. Every visually impaired person should have access to these type of programs. There are people that talk about the programs you can get for free from other sites and agencies but with some visually impaired people such as my friend they do not want to take a handout. They want to pay for the product but can not afford to do so all at one time. With other speech softwares that are free they are not as high tech as the Jaws program which we understand why it is so expensive because it is a wonderful speech program we just need it to be put on payment plans for those who opt that. I wish you the best of luck and Thank you again. Sorry i went on and on I was just letting everyone know what is going on right now …Thank you ! There have been almost a hundred more signatures since yesterday that is great!!!!!

How many people do you think you will need on this? I have signed it but will try to get others to sign as well

To everyone :

Thank you Roy! I believe there will need to be quite a few I posted it on my facebook, here, and my myspace. I am trying so hard to make this happen. Jaws is a great speechware for the visually impaired. It really is just too expensive for the average person at one time to pay. Then there are always updates on it. Without Jaws some visually impaired people like my friend would not be able to work. With the Internet it opens a world of possibilities for everyone , but especially those who are visually impaired. As many people as you can get to help would be greatly appreciated! We all have a voice and maybe just maybe everyone will listen to it. I mean with out the consumers they would fail. They need to realize that it is hard these days to spend such a large amount for something at one time. Thank you to everyone who signed it.

Thank you everyone for taking the time out to at least take a look at the petition !!!!

Howdy Melissa

My bride "Jem" (that's her in the profile picture) has been blind since age 14 due to Retinitis Pigmentosa. We met online in a site called She used Jaws version 7 to communicate by email with me in Las Vegas NV.

She was (and continues to be) in the SF bay area. We are still in awe that it happened. In fact this is the 2nd anniversary of our meeting in the real world. And the 1st anniversary of our wedding ceremony.

You might want to contact your State's Vocatonal Rehabilitation office (or whatever it is called in your state) to see if they can get it for you should you need it. Jem got hers, and her braille display through the CA Vocational Rehab office in the SF Bay area. She got it and her computer equipment at no cost to her.

Yes I will sign the petition.

We pray that you do not lose your vision.

Thanks for the info, I signed the petition online, I wish for everyone in need to get the chance to see or use this software and if my signature can help in some way to make this a reality for others, I'm glad that I can be of some help.
