My level was 466 this last month. He said that 150 was normal. The doctor started me on yet another medication. Does anyone have any input on these? Thanks for any help!!! Leigh

I know I'm coming late to this party. I hope you and your doc found a treatment that works. I had triglycerides in the 500+ range before I developed Type 2 diabetes. My doc put me on Lopid; after 12 days I reacted with hives.

About 5 years ago I had surgery. The surgeon sent me for a cardio workup which was good. That doc suggested I try Lovaza (Omega-3-Acid Ethyl Esters). He gave me some samples. These are huggge! Each gel cap is 1 gram and the dose is 4 grams daily.

Since I have been taking these capsules my Triglycerides have been below 150. At my last lab they were 80. This is not a cheap drug even though there is a generic available it still runs high, but it works for me.

My husband's are out of control too, and the meds he took for just two weeks threw his liver into a tizzy so we stopped.(besides the fact that it was not covered by his Part D)
Now we take supplements to help such as Red Yeast Rice, Fish Oil Omega 3's and Policosinole. We have taken out most fatty foods (he still does Micky D's when he can) But since our diet at home has changed so much, I am interested to know his next results. He also found out that his Medicare supplement will pay for him to go to a gym, so as soon as the papers are cleared, we will start that too.
